Got in tonight and thought right clean the carpets..wife is away for the weekend, kids at outlaws! Right got the steempro out, vacuum carpet, pre sprayed the went to start extracting...water pouring out off the bottom of machine, so out with the tools stripped it down and found a brass nut had split on the spray line so squirting water out...ok i thought get the galaxy out to finish and guess what water coming out of the bottom of that...need some advice before stripping that down.. it chucking water out of the pipe on the vacuum motor that's meant to suck air in at the bottom of the machine!! any ideas why this could be happening?

Might have been because of the cold weather in jan mate and weakend the parts

been in the garage empty wrapped up during the cold weather, first time i used them since the winter.

Yes as other have said, looks like there was some water left in the pipes and it froze. Re the vacuum hose, where its chucking water out. That would only happen on the exhaust side of the vac not the air inlet side. Again water must have been sucked up into the vac system from the waste tank or massive amount of condensation.

No i didnt...the steampro is only got a split brass nut, so thats fine, the galaxy is still chucking water out of the exhaust...think the vacuum must be knackered on that on.

If you're getting water coming out of the exhaust it could be the " shut off " switch has jammed while lying in the garage worth a look before pulling the machine apart. That's the switch that operates when the waste water gets too high.

The float switch will be in the recovery tank, it will be about 2" long and will move up as the water level in the tank reaches a certain point, as it 'floats up' it will shut off the power the vacs, stopping waste water being pulled through the vacs. If the switch is not working obviously it won't shut off the vacs. The tank would need to be quite full for it to be a problem unless it's full of foam which is too light to work the float switch. If the tank had little water in it, it's not your problem, unless the tank itself has a leak. I've never had a Prochem machine, is there any way recovered water could be inadvertently directed at the vacuum ports in the tank?

The float is fine....Think i will have to call Prochem about this one.Thanks

Spoke to Prochem today, brass fitting that split is £2.50 and the Galaxy chucking out water through the exhaust is a common fault with these machine and the have altered them now. It needs a baffle plate added to the waste tank, my machine is 2 years old and they said the will send me one free of charge to sort the problem out. Quite impressed by that, if it sorts the problem out.

Just fitted the baffle plate to my galaxy and it has sorted the problem out...Thank goodness!!!
