i'm using the same tap from Gardiner, and they are very good, lighter and easy to fit on the poles with 2 plastic ties.

How are you all clipping it to the pole?

Surely you end up with a loop of pole hose because it sure can't travel with the hose up the pole?

I don't understand.

If you are using an Algarde type hose you can use one of these plastic  fit anywhere roller clamps to squeeze and fine control  the soft tubing closed.( Does not work with vinyl hose.)Fully adjustable- no loops.
