tomlions,

good question i was going to ask myself.

Was going to give custy's an email address as well and ask them to post me to let me know they'd transfered payment( am i silly :D) is this not needed.

Al s suggestion is good was thinking that myself i.e 5 high rd, 1st line of address as ref.

have not set up an internet banking yet have had codes in draw for 2 months ::)

but become more appealing due to postal strikes  >:(

also takes week for cheques to clear and 3 days for cash :o in my abbey business account, don't want to change as my joint account is abbey and easy to move money across accounts over phone also no charges.

QUESTION: sound like scene from marathon man; but "is it safe".
feel a little un-easy giving out bank details to a load of people or is information given out not enough for fraud, just thinking people will have my name address already + bank details also.

thanks all lee

always thought it was best not to give out your account details

people need to have more than just the sort code and account number, I have set my account up so I have to input my password to even set up a DD from my Business account.

The worst thing they can do with it is pay money into your account. the same details are on every cheque you write. It is a good method, but I have had a few problems with custys not identifying themselves.

turn it back on them..

did you put the reference on? without that i have no idea who paid.. when did you pay it? and how much for and i'll have to check it later...

Account & sort code should be all that is needed to place money into a account as for ref...

How's about Postcode/house number...this should do the trick.

I have around 220 people who pay only with bank transfers...I have yet in 3 years had any issues not being able to locate/work out who is who.

Very simple and beats collecting which I have never done...such a waste of time.

Dave.

I started off with street address as reference till I got 2 house same street name number so that idea was flawed,

now it just says id403 or what ever the number is, I then just search wcp id 403 click paid easy.....

say London rd gillingham and London rd Chelmsford both are say 22 and both are £10, as they only use the first line of their address its easy to get confused as to which customer has paid.
as all you would get as a reference would be "22 london road"
