« on: March 23, 2009, 04:15:06 pm »
Today i cleaned two houses with a film on the windows which i beleive is mineral deposits from the rendering/masonary paint, im not to sure at this stage wheather the glass has been damaged, ie bitten into, but i told the custys i would try kettle descaler next time, anyone have any better ideas or know of a product that may shift it, hopefully the glass aint damaged, cheers peeps

I've tried malt vinegar - applied neat - (after reading a post about it on this forum) and to be honest it did help a little bit; but it was far from perfect.

I've also read (here) about lads using toilet descalers (it's the same type of staining) being used; but never done it myself.

There's also a product available from the US; I can't remember it's name; it wasn't cheap and you had to wear protective clothing when using it; so I never bothered with it.

Now, I just explain to the customer what and how the stains are caused, and tell them there's nothing I can do about it; but regular cleaning will stop it from worsening.  ;D

Cheers for that Tosh, this stuff is evil, from past experience i know it wrecks the glass and bites in rather like the same affect as rust has on metal
