Fraser, you say you have got rid of the staining , but the smell is persistant, if there was the amount of vomit you are saying the possibilty is it could be in the backing, did you lift and clean including flooring, what attempts have you made to rid the smell ?,not normaly to much of a problem with vomit.
In answer to your question anyway, whenever I,v done a report after attempts of removal have failed,
I simply tell the the type , material and construction of carpet , approx age ,normaly that info is furnished by the custy, the methods tried to solve the problem , stating wether any improvment has been made and any further attempts may cause more damadge. In your opinion as a professional c/c nothing more can be done.
basicly thats all they need to know, and normaly they would accept that with out even sending an accesor. To be honest, I would have a go at the odour removal before any reports.
