Univale and pole hose issues
« on: July 07, 2017, 08:05:26 pm »
Ever since I got a univalve my pole hoses have expanded to the size of my 6mm hose on the reel,I know it because the pressure is built up to the univalve as apposed to having a tap on the end of reel hose,I don't want to go back to using a tap on the end of the reel hose but is there any pole hose that doesn't expand to pressure build up.

I think it's more to do with the weather mate, I noticed the same with mine over the last couple of weeks but has not done it in the colder months.

Never had any issues with Exceed's pole hose. It just needs to be uncoiled before you use it.

Its no more pressure than before unless you have increased it yourself?

The water is stopping behind the valve the same as the tap, must be another reason. Heat causes expansion.

I don't think that's correct. If you use a tap on the reel hose when it's closed there's no pressure on the pole hose. Whereas  close the univalve and all the pressure builds up in the pole hose.  I've just changed the yellow pole hose for Gardiner's green pu hose for this very reason.

All season yellow pole hose is made of pvc and is much more susceptible to warm weather.   It becomes very soft which is great in some ways but in this particular way is a pain.  Mine actually burst in the end. Since I replaced it with PU hose (like ExCeed's blue) I've had no problems.  My favorite though, is gardiner's green PU hose.  It seems more flexible to handle than most, and more readily lays flat.

I've had Gardeners yellow hose and that didnt go well with the univale, kept expanding so ill see how this goes as they said the exceed  is made to cope with hot weather and pressure.

rubbish!ive been using the blue exceed for over a year now and its very tough and durable.perfect with the uni valve.it occasionally kinks when its warm weather but thats the same with all pole hose.

its the best pole hose ive ever used IMO.

its seems the new stuff is not the same as the older blue hose , (its 3 weeks old ) we  tried it  on our 60 ft ultermite and its shocking when the weathers hot  hence it went in the bin ,  mine you daz you don't get the hot weather where you live as it grim up north so it may work well for you
