Oh dear, i have an habit of winding people up lately , i am sure its not intentional.

As for self employed window cleaners earning a fortune, well that isnt the real world and it isnt the norm and not always the case, Where i live most self employed window cleaners are taking about £25- £30k gross, what there take home is, well work it out.

My lads are on £18k at the moment, which is on a par with most of the self employed near me.

All my staff have the opportunity to do better and take on more responsibility, but as it stands none of them are interested all they are interested  in  is  taking there wage and partying all weekend, when they leave for home in the evening they dont have a care in the world, and thats they way they want it.

I would argue this forum isnt just for self employed, I have had a few job applicants from this site, all of them have said they would be prepared to leave there round behind to work for me.

It took me 5 years of self employment until i had £30k of turnover, and that wasnt through the lack of trying.

Just because i think a certain way doesnt mean I am trying to wind people or am on my high horse, If you knew me you would know I am down to earth and am quite humble.

I know you're not trying to wind anyone up, you may think different & your circumstances are different to most who post on here. ;)
Anyway, totally off original topic as this has got-
You can be a self employed w/c & earn lots of money without employing a sole. Subbing, so long as you know plenty of trusted fellow shiners you need not have a fleet of vans, employment costs or hassle etc.

One of my customers has a very large, well respected & extremely sucsessful roofing business. He's a really nice chap, ownes lots of land & properties, he's very wealthy & has a team of full time workers BUT he doesn't actually employ any of them. ;) He's run his business like this for years now & said it was the best thing he ever did. They are now reliable & work harder! :D

Im on the pear cider now,

Ewans post was dissing £40k per year no matter how its read.

Im bored of this now its sat night for christs sake.

£40k per year is a very good job though ;)

Dean
I'm with you on the pear cider Dear :D

40k a year aint a bad wage for anyone thats less than my wife earns as a trained social worker

Do social workers seriously get trained, training in what, how to say no to every family in need, how to fob familys off that there doing all they can but yet 4 years down the line they still promise things will get sorted, sorry Ian just having bad time with our services and wouldnt wish any of it on anyone but ah the stuff will hit the fan soon  ;D
If you want to blame people I would look at the goverment and the amount of red tape, they have to fight first m8, I see this day in day out, I know your annoyed but look past the people that are trying to help you and be annoyed with the ones that make the problems..... ;)

Wow wish I had never asked, well except for the lad that is starting on monday and the lad clear magic put me in touch with that starts the following Monday

Being self employed is good for some people but most people in the uk are employed as they like to have a contract and have a confirmed wage.

I'm self employed and would not have it any other way but any guys that have started subbing for us end up employed

Wink wink dean and your northen army

Morning guys,

I found myself looking through old threads before work this morning and it was like getting into a time machine,

I took the job with the Price group just over 7 years after this post, I can honestly say that it's the best move I've ever made,

Also the company has grown beyond belief since this thread originally started,

Exciting times ahead,
