hot water is nicer to work with.ive used it all week after using cold water since december last year(l5 broke on boxing day).

using cold water to clean windows is fine but in the colder months its a bit of a pain with harder to manage stiff hoses.ill go back to cold water for most work in the spring and summer months.

if i use hot water for 4 months of the year all day every day it works out at around £50 a month(£2-50-£3-00 a day)in gas so £200.

easier hose management

cleans and rinses easier than cold water(more confidence when splashing and dashing! ;D)

keeps hands warm

no freezing up of microbore on the ground

melts ice on windows when working in freezing conditions

impresses your customers! ;D
price higher/work harder!

Dazmond, you are such a plonker! If I could be bothered I'd fish out all your posts where you said the opposite earlier this year.

Nobody is knocking anything, we all make our own choices on how we run our businesses and only an idiot would dismiss something without at least looking into the pro's and con's.
So lets look at it from my business point of view.
Am I happy with the quality of my cleans ? Yes.
Do I think hot will make me quicker and therefore increase my earning potential ?  No as I find I get very little on the windows
that would be removed any quicker by the extra cleaning power of hot., maybe the odd stubborn bird poo but your taking
a few minutes over a week.
Will it make my life easier ? O.k. you will get more supple hoses and the odd bit of stubborn bird poo might come off easier
but other than that the answer is no. My clothing keeps me warm.
I don't clean in temperatures that using cold wont allow, that wont change if I convert to hot so there's no benefit there.
So do I need hot ? for me the answer is no and I don't need to have used it to work this out.

It's not a confidence thing at all if you have used both you can make your own mind up if it's worth using hot or not.
If like me you will find out hot defo cleans better than cold any day of the year even if used on regular cleans.

Better at cleaning what ? until you have compared yourself to what other guys are achieving then your just talking rot,  I haven't
tried hot because I am achieving the results I need without it.
Its like coming on here and trying to convince somebody who can clean a property in 10mins that if they where using hot
they could clean it in 10mins.

I've found hot works much better than just using cold on the following:

tree sap - sticky or solid sap on glass and frames
road film - badly soiled frames, glass etc
algae / lichen - on frames, sills, cladding, signage, conny roofs etc.
oxidation - on frames, cladding etc
baked on bird strikes, bug poo etc - be it on glass, frames, cladding, solar panels etc.
builders splatter - softens mortar, paint etc so makes it easier to remove.
sea salt - common on coastal jobs (I don’t live by the coast but has been said by others)

I could go on about the difference of using hot as opposed to cold but to be honest think I would be wasting my breath as like I mentioned before you have to try it to find out for yourself.  Then you can make your own mind up if you want the option to use hot or not instead of keep banging on about it ::)roll

You asked a question seank so I answered it what my views are using hot as opposed to using cold. If you are happy to continue to clean with cold that is down to you as nobody is forcing you to use hot water. However at the same time don’t knock it until you have tried it as only makes you look stupid.  ::)roll

Smurf you need to get over this belief that its not possible to comment on a product without having tried it
as it shows a lack in common sense.
I know a ride on lawnmower is better than my push job but I don't need to have used one to realise that I don't need it
to cut a 10ft square lawn.

There are more advantages to using hot other than simply speeding up jobs and preventing everything freezing up but I can't be bothered and don't feel the need to explain myself or convince others to go hot......stay cold, work harder,  do a lot of frost protection thingies when the temperature is freezing overnight and earn less, know which I prefer and it ain't simply because of cost. Five quid a day on diesel is nothing for using hot advantages, no comparison.
Not disputing the benefits but the cost.

Cost of installing heater - 3K
Cost of servicing and repairing heater.
Cost of replacing batteries.
Additional potential problems due to using hot (due to hose expansion and risk of cracking glass).

I had a 5kw webasto fitted by Pure Freedom and found it a big waste of time and money, largely due to fact the water did not get hot enough to make much difference cleaning wise (even for single operator you need the 9kw IMO) and it ate batteries.

There are lots of comments and questions about it being faster to clean with hot - - and on maintenance cleans its true, it might actually be no quicker than cold,... BUT when you get snail trails & bird much (At least 3-4 times  every day for most ppl I'd imagine ) you save a couple of minutes each time - and personally I found I saved the most time when reeling in the hose as it snagged a lot less when it was warm & supple,.. so overall it should make EVERY round faster, at least to the point where it pays for itself - AND give better/more consistent results & more pleasant working conditions too.

When I was cleaning windows I used a cheapo gas heater (about £80 off ebay) and went through an 11kg  bottle of gas a month - - and I used it all year round!

So happens I've tried old fashioned manual blade push mowers too but like fook would I use one if I was cutting grass for a living. I would simply invest in the right tools for each job in hand that would make my job easier and more productive ....

Now that’s what I call common sense if you ask me.
