So just smiled, jumped in her van and ran over her 3 legged cat while giving her the finger.
You stole her van?

Fraid not. If every "customer" clicked their fingers and told you to eff off, your screwed! In fact, that's worse than a boss as you wouldn't have a leg to stand on if they all chucked you.

And how likely do you think that would be?  Every customer?  How would that happen?

I do a good job and my customers are very happy with my service, so they won't do that.

Occasionally you do get an idiot who has a "customer is always right" attitude, who there is no pleasing.  You have to control customers like that, and if they won't be tamed (and I don't give them too much time) then they're out, and quickly replaced with someone else.

I simply don't have the energy or inclination to bother with folk like that.  Everyday I add potential customers to my 'waiting list' so actually i AM doing someone a favor by including them.  If they don't appreciate that, then there are tons of others just waiting to be added, so no, the customer is not the boss.  I am the boss, and if they don't like the way I operate then its tough luck for them.  They need me more than I need them.

Fortunately, 99.99% of the time they DO like the way I operate, which is to provide a good, top class service, which is what they appreciate.

If you go around thinking that you are in servitude to your own customers, and are grateful that they deign to honor you with their custom, then you've missed the point of window cleaning IMO

Biggest problem with my pensioners is that they keep dying.

On the subject of cakes, I once turned up at an old dear's.  She handed me a slice of fruit cake and said "When you phoned last night I was in a panic because my oven's broken but I went next door and used theirs to make this for you".  What a wonderful world.
