I would negotiate a half price first clean and then cancel on the next clean.

Yea to be fair what you guys are saying are pretty much what Ive experienced whilst out knocking, Ive even ended up going in for a quick cuppa a couple of times. There was 1 guy who was leaning out his top window smoking, I said who I was and and he went mad but once I explained that Id been booking his £7 whole houses for £12 he ran down the stairs saying he needs to speak to me in that case, I gave him some knocking tips had a brew and went on merry way.

I would have a chat, ask him how is he doing, and share my experiences with him and wish him/her well. Exactly as I would with any other windy I meet when working.

im the same john, we can all learn off and help learn each other with advice etc.
why some window cleaners are nasty horrible turds i dont know, theres plenty of work to go around, its just the cheap undercutters who are ruining things but they dont seem to be around long from what ive seen and ive only been going less than a year!!

I would tell him I already had a window cleaner, even if he was free I am  not interested.  The lad who does mine doesn't charge me because I gave him some of my crap work when he started up

Just because they don't say it doesn't mean they don't think it 
I'm suprised no one has said...its okay as long as you don't undercut anyone else 
They're quite complex the rules really, and they're different depending on wether you are protecting your work or trying to gain some.

Yeah, funny really.
When I canvassed I thought kind of...everyone's fair game.
But when someone knocks my round I used to feel a bit put out.
If I'm honest-I still do a little bit. I have to have a word with myself (not literally) and just say that I was in that position once.
Can't blame anyone for trying.
I lost 2 last year to an undercutter (he's on this forum but just lurks mainly).
I was properly miffed at the time.
I was about to dump one for persistent messing but the other was good as gold.
Then I think-'it's only 1 job, so what'
It's a great life this WC lark. Can't blame people wanting to give it a go.

had a guy shove a business card thru my door last summer with £12 written on back so opened door and called him back and said your too cheap ... all houses on this estate should be about £18 to £20 monthlies .... he had a puzzled look on his face till I gave him my card (van was in garage) ... had a nice chat but dont hink he got any as never seen him around

on my estate of 38 houses I have 2 and even one of them is about to get dropped for non payment

Had a funny one last week, the wife opened the door and said my hubbys a window cleaner, so I gave her my biz card and said get him to give me a call if he wants anymore work, and went to walk off, shes called me back and said that I could do her windows  as hes terrible haha
