Cleaned an empty flat yesterday occupied by dole tenants. Left some bank statements in the wardrobe detailing benefit payments, they had 4 1/2 grand in the account. Perhaps I should try it.

Would you try and haggle when it came to paying for a meal? or at the checkout?... no of course not!
My answer is this... if you cant afford to have your carpets cleaned right now... save up and call me back when you can...

I think the benefit angle just gets people's back up. Any other excuse than that would be a better bet.

If people said sorry I can't afford it I only have £X would you do it for that? I think they might fair better.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.
