what he s not telling us is his overheads are astronomical esp fuel costs!the stress and aggro involved(although people like dean can thrive on it!)until they reach a "tipping point" then they can slide into active alcoholism, depression and despair and lose big chunks of their business ending up broke, busted, disgusted and not to be trusted!!

not saying that will happen with you dean but i would run a million miles from going in a partnership with richy wilts!!he s just bad news mate!!

best wishes

I have only been on this window cleaners section of this forum for a very short time. However in this time I have always found Daz`s comments to be helpful and truthful. I have never heard Daz speak out of turn about anyone. So wow is Richywilts that bad  :o :o :o

Bit harsh about richy but the 1st part is brilliant.  ;D

Whatever you decide dean, keeping the passion has got to be the one constant. Regardless of the fat you have to chop away.
Without the passion i think daz has a funny / legitimate point.

I don't know what you need dean, but from what i follow i think admin to run your business would help you tremendously. But not your wife or anyone in your house.

Distancing yourself from the less passionate parts of your business can only be better for you personally and the business.

Good luck with finding someone to help run your business Dean.

Dazmond, for whatever reason, a lot of people seem to look at your posts in admiration, but that last comment about Richy was bang out of order in my opinion. Joking or not

if you are spending a lot on fuel you could strike a deal with a fuel co.  and get a fuel card

Stop being a wuss, and get on with it, get off the tools, get an admin lady in, and concentrate in running your business from the outside, not within,

You are no longer a window cleaner, you are a businessman, the sooner that sinks in, then the sooner you can progress

I know what you mean you have to watch out for  vans with blackout windows parked up could be the dole taking photos of you and watching for cars following you up the motorway,
People with a camera walking about does your head,  your looking over shoulder all the time.

sounds about right

If you cant afford to come off at that turnover then the % arent right

maybe its because the work is all based on you pushing and rushing around to get it all done and you cant trust the lads to do it??
in that case you probably need to find someone reliable to slowly take up your role as manager perhaps one day at a time till you can at least be off the tools even just a few days a week

good luck , im glad i stay as one man band when i read this , i know you can earn more , i but like to not have the stress

....I know it sounds nuts but what about a personal assistant? Not a secretary with a filofax....i mean a proper assistant. There used to be an amazing assistant where i used to work.....never brought problems just solutions....used to give three options for everything, all sorted.....anytime we travelled everything thought of down to the tube tickets.......made life so much easier, they can even sort all your personal crap out too like kids birthday parties & the wife's xmas pressie........I'd look into it, why give away equity in a great business when you just need formal reporting and a proper helper...... :)

Haha,

Its a long story ash,

I won't bore you with the full details but to cut it short, I started at port vale and got sacked, then went to kettering town and got them relegated to the conference north, then got them promoted to the conference, had a great cup run and nearly got them promoted to the league. I left for championship norwich and got them promoted to the prem then we got relegated and I got sacked. I've now been at cardiff for 3 yrs and have rebuilt the club from bottom to top.

There you go :-D

Dean.

Here's a quick update on this...

I've now been sacked by Cardiff city so I may return to drinking.

Dazmond your prediction is starting to pan out!!!
