I fire this letter through the door as I'm doing the other houses in the street. The price here is x1.5 what they normally pay.

Thank you for your text message yesterday. The service that we offer our customers is a regular 6 weekly or 12 weekly window clean and I'm sorry that I did not make this clear when I started working for you.

I understand that occasionally there are circumstances beyond your control that mean that we cannot work on your property: If you would please consider keeping these to a minimum it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions about our service or you would prefer a 12 weekly clean; priced at £27.00 including the sills, frames and door then please do not hesitate to let me know.

Dump you don't want a round full of messers, unless they got a good excuse like building work they're binned on my round ;D

That's pretty much the rule on my round too.

Me too; unless they have an excuse.  Telling me that they're skint and looking apologetic is a valid excuse in my books, but this rarely happens.

I tend to dump them, but prior to which, I'm honest with them and explain that if I don't clean their windows at our agreed intervals, I remove them from my round.  Some relent and ask you to carry on, others don't and say "Fine!"  I'm easy either way.

But as the years tick by, you end up with a round full of good customers who want (or at least allow) their windows to be cleaned at the frequency you originally agreed.

Fao northstar. And a few others .

I do know y they don't want them cleaned, because it's light rain or cloudy. I know the ones who have money and the ones who pretend to be skint, I'm not that harsh.

There have been loads of posts on here over the years saying rain or shine they always clean. I have only this to say, I have never met a customer who is totally happy with that. Some might put up with it but happy?

I lost a customer last year because I cleaned her in the snow, beautiful sunny day but snow on the ground. Sure there are messers, and plenty who are skint, but you have to recognise they just might be telling you they are not comfortable with what you are wanting to do and the fault really is yours for not reading the signs.

But on here there is only ever one answer, dump! So go ahead and dump them, maybe the next window cleaner will be a bit smarter. Don't get me wrong, I dump loads of customers that do really need dumping

I have to say I agree with Vince. I've dumped plenty over the last 3 years as he has said he has, but I sit at home and wait it out if its heavy rain as it is here today - lashing down. I reckon i'm in the customer satisfaction business, rather than the window cleaning business, and Vince has hit it squarely on the head - they might let you clean 'em but are they happy that you are doing it. Probably not. You could argue that if they don't say anything then it's fine to go ahead, but to be truthful I just don't like it.

If it's light rain, on and off i'm out there, but not moderate or heavy rain. To an extent it also depends where they are. If on a main road where traffic spray is gonna be on them within 10 mins of me finishing then it's fair enough that they don't want me when it's rainy - if it rains the next day, then fair enough. If they are on a quiet estate then even heavy rain shouldn't make a difference.

It seems to work for me, plus I stay dry(er) which is more pleasant. I seem to catch up as I leave a few spare days in the month anyway for bad weather and still make a great profit.
