Record keeping
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:41:20 pm »
Is it required to have a book with every job in it and crosses etc to show when you have done the work( for the tax man ) or can you get away with just putting in a single figure per week?
Thanks

You need a daily figure, and need to keep a copy of each transaction

How are you monitoring your work list?
Pen and paper, excel spreadsheet or other?

Book and pen. Write date at top jobs up side x for done and paid / for done awaiting payment. I may jump on excel as I have access and probably would be a lot quicker adding figures etc.

tax man wants to see where money came from, so a daily customer record needed.

the more open and better records you have, less of a nitemare if audited.

Do yourself a big favour and put everything in a window cleaning program, such as George (The window Cleaner's assistant) or other program. Tax returns couldn't be easier (if you forget for a second the thousands of pounds that need to be paid pronto!)
