« on: January 26, 2012, 09:09:43 pm »

jackal when you go van mount you will regret spending £500 on a trolley. just buy the backpack for £100 mate.

Why not get a trolley and a barrel, then use your van pump box if needed.  Should cost you about £50 including the barrel  ;)

Managed to work for 3 hrs the other day on 3 streets close together without moving once you are far better off with van mount mate i used a trolley for over 3yrs and wished i had van mount from the start.   MIKE

Hey Jackal,
I gave all mine a changeover letter. (some guys on here do and some think its a big nono.)
I also told them that I was investing in this technology but would not put their price up so they weren't paying for it!
The only thing that I asked of them was to support me for three cleans, I explained there may be a few spots or runs on the first go, but promised I would go back to ladder work if after the 3 cleans they were not satisfied.
Only 1 old guy after three cleans asked to go back trad, I dropped him.

The other thing that I thought helped was the gobby customer, (we've all got) I did each day for three days letting her think she was helping me with the research/practice bit.
After the three days they were so good with clean frames, instead of her gobbing off moaning to her friends she was getting me new customers because she was that happy with wfp.

You aint daft, talk to your custards. You will lose a few maybe, but you will pick up recommendations from the other delighted customers. You will work faster too so you will do/earn more each day.

Still happy to meet up when you have some time.

cheers lee for your input, yeh will come down one day still,i was thinking of some sort of letter to give them the clean be4 i go wfp i think it would be strange just turn up and start spraying there windows without explaining anything to them especially the older generation,i thought they could read the letter (prehaps even a photo of the equipment and someone cleaning) just to let them take it in so it aint a shock to them,if they choose not to read then i can say didnt you read the letter i gave you then explain a bit about it

cleancare, how come your against the letter?how did you do it?

im not agaist the changeover letter. lee said that some on here had said that a changeover letter was a big no,no.  but personally I feel that telling your customers you will go back to the ladders if they dont like wfp is definately a no,no. thats all.

oh i see now,yeh wont be saying that one either, maybe id just say give it a try for 3 month an let me no if there are any problems with your windows an i will redo any dodgy ones for them, was thinking of saying to any fussy custys that are on the verge of cancelling that i would be able trad the downs for them, obviously dont want be tradding everyones downs tho,

my biggest mistake in 2 years of window cleaning is not starting out wfp from the start, iv brought 180 custys altogether but picked up 160 on my own which wouldnt of had the choice but to have wfp

The offer to go back to trad was for re-assurance. Most are aware of the dangers of ladder work and will accept a change of method if its as good. Its getting them to accept change.
It just worked for me but others will have changed their rounds over to water fed in other ways, you just have to pick the bones out of what you may think will work for you.

 Re: wfp customer letter???

This is similar to the one I used 5 or 6 years ago. I nicked it from Ian Rochester
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to recently introduced Health & Safety legislation (European Work at Height Regulations 2005) regarding the use of ladders for cleaning and access, we are now starting to use a PURE WATER POLE CLEANING SYSTEM to clean some, if not all of your windows.

How does it work?
The Pure Water System incorporates a 5 stage water purification process that removes all impurities from the water including particulates, chlorines and carbons, this Pure Water is then stored in a large tanked fitted to the vehicle. When required, the water is pumped from the tank through pipe-work to a jetted brush head on the end of a pole.  The windows, frames and sills are then jetted, washed and brushed to remove all dirt.  The final stage of the process is where the brush is lifted away from the window, the window is spray rinsed with Pure Water and left to dry naturally.

The Advantages
•   Safety, no ladders to fall off!
•   Privacy
•   Environmentally friendly, no detergents are required
•   Frames can be cleaned along with the glass
•   Previously inaccessible windows can now be cleaned safely
•   We can now also clean conservatory roofs, fascias, etc
•   Windows can be cleaned in almost all weather conditions
•   Because there is no detergent residue, windows stay cleaner longer

The changes you will notice
•   The windows will be left wet, but they will dry streak and smear free
•   For the first one or two times you may see small white spots on your windows, this is detergent residue from previous cleans

I appreciate that this is a big change, but we have been using this system on all our commercial cleaning and some domestic cleaning for several years now and the feedback and results have been excellent.

We guarantee a quality service every time.  If you have any concerns please feel free to call me on  or catch us whilst we are cleaning.
