The tap your using to adjust the waste/ pure
Ratio may be faulty! If you are turning the tap
Half way you should be getting 50% waste
50% pure if your not getting that then you've got
A problem!! Your waste pipe is definatley coming out
Of the bottom and good from the end I assume, on the waste
Pipe is were your tap should be! If all that is correct
Then you should be getting better readings!!

hf5 is better apparently for low pressure. yes making sure got proper waste setup. no kinks or blockage on either pipe restricting flow, it could he something obvious that if your new can't see.  got pre filters in correctly? wondering whether your tap pressure or flow is good enough, might need to check static tap pressure? or use booster pump

Did you make sure you inserted the membrane the right way? There is a plastic white rubber flange that needs to go in last. Your feed water needs to go in that end as well.

Make sure your RO is setup so it's running around 70% waste, 30% pure.

its got to be either duff filter, or inserted incorrectly. you haven't blown it by running it with tap closed have u? you say 60psi, that seems ok pressure, was that taken from the system pressure gauges, and if so, what waste to pure ratio was it setup at (as that varies when change waste gauge obviously)?

Try the process of elimination  remove the pre filters from their housings and see if you still have the same problem, if you dont you know the problem is with the pre filters and not the RO.

If your using a 40/40  you've probably got a 20" particular filter and a 20" carbon filter? is the carbon filter granulated or a block filter? I only use the block filters as I had problems with the granulated variety which resulted in the mains water after booster pump not being able to pass through the carbon filter "this resulted in low pressure" have you got a water softener before your RO?

Back on the thread topic,the first thing i would do is take out the membrane,apply vaseline to the sealing rings and re-install. You might just be getting some seepage.

Cheapest isnt always best, but after service also should be taken into comparison.  June at Gaps water on 01706 521074 has never let me down, always answers the phone and very knowledgeable, dont think they are far off the best price either, it at all.

I`ll second that,the price differences have levelled out since 12 months ago,i remember June from Gaps saying there was a bit of price control for membranes in Europe as compared to the U.S. so back then the Ionics HF5 stood out as a bargain compared to elsewhere.
   So if you want to be 4040,its 1 phonecall and all the advice you need,the HF5 is 189.00 plus vat from Gaps now.

Never ever use vaseline on o-rings, it makes them brittle and slowly eats away at the them. You can get special lubricants for O rings, or just use a bit of vegetable oil.
