It's about time the wand manufacturers starting building stainless steel glided heads onto their wands. That would get Derek going, may even get him to break his silence on the subject

I think the reason Teflon is better than steel is because it has a lower friction coefficient than any other material. So it glides better. Sounds like engineers mumbo jumbo to me. I also hate the fact that I have to buy a separate part to make the wand perform better, but until the manufactures sort it out I won't be without one. I would rather be called names by my huge shouldered colleagues that don't use them.

Teflon does have one of the lowest friction coefficients for the purposes of glides.
Unless you are stocky & knee high to a grasshopper - in other words no more than 4' 8" - you must be mad not to use a glide if you operate a t/m.
