Simply Business Excess
« on: November 03, 2009, 07:57:36 am »
Just looking through my policy and it says that my excess for tools in van is £500 for "each and every loss". Are you thinking what i'm thinking? Or am i reading it wrong? £500 for a nicked bucket. £500 for a nicked backpack etc etc. Surely that aint right.......Is it???? I don't think i've got an individual item in my van that's worth £500. Am i ready for the loony asylum or should i just cancel that part of the policy???

What worries me is the fact that loads of people on here use Simply Business. Are we all getting shafted here???

I think it depends on which company you choose from the options given by Simply Business.

Well, i spoke to simplybusiness tonight and it turns out that the £500 excess as they word it means that no individual item is covered over £500 and that the excess i would have to pay is only £100 all in. They did admit it is worded very badly and that he understood why i would think that(maybe he was just being nice, lol) Bit more like it  :) plus my excess for public liability has gone DOWN from £250 to £100 PLUS my premium has gone down from £130 odd last year to just over £100. So Happy Days are here again.  ;D

I think you would do well to get them to write you a letter containing the details of their particular translation.  It's all very well the person on the phone setting themself up as an interpreter but it's what's on the paperwork that counts if/when you need to make a claim

thye will not do it , I have said this before, I havd to cancel one policy with them because they sold me something that I was clearly not insured for. I was not happy when I found out, glad I did or I would still be paying for something that was worthless to my company..

I think, with hindsight..........it must be max payout per item, surely..........they could never ask for an excess of £500 per item.......that's just mad innit? They send a pdf online.......i'll check it out in a while. How did they shaft you ww?
