Commercial Window Cleaning Business value or sale
« on: September 14, 2009, 01:12:40 pm »
Just considering wether to sell or amalgamate business with another company.

We have many major contracts & large commercial porfolio, have an excellent repuation  just obtained many new contracts.

Operating as small company, but, with overheads of bigger company. Needs to be apart of larger cleaning company or larger window cleaning company. Have many options for future expansion, but, need additional help or backing.

Any serious parties please log interest & look forward to speaking in the future.

Gary

We face the same issues as you and have often thought about doubling up with someone, the biggest issue with me is freeing up time.

I reckon it is as easy to run 8 vans as 4, with a partner i would be able to go on holidays etc knowing the business was being looked after.

My advice would be to employ a manager to
run the business
how you want it run.
Having a partner rarely works out.
Only speaking from my experiences guys.

Hi,

Come on Charlie...between us all I think we'd have the UK covered.

The problem is fixed costs are fixed costs, whether we are busy or not and thats a big problem after you try and grow your business.

Cheers,

i think this is just a price you pay for growing rapidly, when you first start out the costs are very small and administration costs are next to nothing but as you grow and purchase business premises and expensive equipment the costs go through the roof, on top of that there are so many training courses etc that we are told we must have to look professional and these dont come cheap neither, i am very fortunate in that all our costs are firmly under control and am making a healthy profit without any cash flow difficulties but it would have been very easy to overstretch finances by trying to grow to quickly and i think that is what many have done.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Thanks for the replies.

Looking at all options, currently run ragged as cut back on staff, so on van, trying to run business & looking at all options.

To improve business, i need more work, more labour & more profit. These i know, & looking to improve areas that increase the value & the business portfolio. Also new advert started on yell.com, so closely looking to see what that brings in, dont normally advertise other than fed box in yell pages so keen to find out.#

Some business on here have grown rapidly, where mine as faltered, do i want to put that right . YES. So realy i have to work harder at it, but, closely watch other areas where things have been allowed to slip.

I feel there is possibility of companys working close together, I see Dean working with Charlie etc, waiting on Huw with the area coverage agreement to kick back off as thats a good idea.

There is work out there, we,ve gained 1 school, 1 small office block since posting, i have a roof clean quote going today. Turned dowm, large carpet clean, build cleaning contract & 2 domestic upvc cleans, all these are because we are so busy at minute, not because they are duff work.

Look forward to mid Oct to be able to sit down & evaluate all options

Thanks again

Gary

I have given you advice over the years about pricing, that you have not heeded. The last time we spoke you told me you could not do the Beeston project because it clashed with your booked schools.

The schools you had booked in clashed with the start date, I would have found a way to do them both because long term it would have paid dividends. The drains alone were worth probably more than all of the school prices put together and then there was a store to clean!!

I would have happily spent as much time as possible with you on my programme, getting you up to speed, the works are colossal but they are broken down into areas.

I ended up doing two stores simultaneously 2.5 hours apart, both with drains and full external cleans.

I am not employing at the moment, how do you think I manage.

You get a lot of work but your pricing is crap, that is why you are in the situation you are in. We used to speak regularly, a couple of times a week and I thought we were friends who could work together, you have not called or made any effort to get back on track.

There are some big things going on in my business, you made a mistake and looked at the short term (certainly not profit) when you should have been looking a little further ahead. I am still waiting for your call!!!!

Hopefully all sorted now, all things are in place to turn around & new avenues sorted. I will be keeping business & it is in profit, but, not enough.

Shame i was unable to help with work at time, but, all now sorted. After making redundencys through a shortage of work it then left me unable to cope with influx of schools 18+, some very large & good payers, i could not ruin my name by letting them down, & your work coming in at short notice after i had booked the whole hols & booked additional labour that i needed to complete all of them.

From this we will retain there work & gain new business, but, as you point out it will never be at the same rates as your work, so i look forward to tomorrow & hopefully sort some business out together again.

Cheers mate
