GIMMICKS for GUARANTEED SUCCESS?
« on: May 04, 2005, 08:23:29 am »
Do you know why the frachise CCs are doing better than you? They don't clean as good as you, their leaflet drops are the same as yours, the advertising costs may be the same, and they charge more per sq. m  yes they have differant method of cleaning. but its down to one simple issue. They turn more inquiry's into jobs than you.

Who says they are doing better?

Being busy does not mean they are doing better!
It's profit that counts!

Wow Barry, SIX assumptions in four lines, seven if we assume that all franchises operate in the same way.

Can you qualify these please so we may have a chance of submitting genuine answers.

Hi Guys.
We all know that any organisation is only as strong as its weakest link, and some franchisees will never make it as CCs, in fact many will never make as self employed but of those who are succsessfull, there are more older established franchise CC businesses being sold on due to retirerment and they then re-coope their investment, what has an independant got to sell on?
The patronising assumptions are based on what I have seen within the 100 mile radius of my work area and regular business contacts with the trade, but what you haven'r asked is "Why".

Hi Barry, while I have never worked for a CC franchise I have worked for a DOC one which also ran a CC franchise alongside it.

Their work was of a very high standard, the operators were well trained, wore company uniform, were very presentable and knowledgeable and worked with a variety of cleaning methods from bonnetting to TM's

Their pricing was based upon an hourly rate rather than per square foot/meter and they did very little in terms of leaflet drops.

All of this contradicts your original post which is why I had to query it.

If you are really asking why does an independant have very little to sell on when a franchisee can recover their investment costs (and more) then that is a different question from that originally posed - although some of the answers could be the same.

Would you like to tell us why?

Sorry Tonyb.
It should not have been Why but How.
And Musicman, the sell on in the in the end is not a differant question, because it is what you have got at the end that counts, the ablity to earn money is easy,  the secret we have to learn is how to keep it. If only we could run our businesses as economicly as a madam in a brothal, where you have got it, you sell it, and you have still got it, --- I digress.
We are in the service industry and every potential customer has to come to you, how they found you, doesn't matter, but that first contact is the make or break, all franchise HQs are almost doctrinaire in turning you into a businessman so that can turn that inquirey into a sale, how many times have you been disapointed on the phone with  "Allo" or "Who that" or "He ain't in". In big letters on everySafe-Clean phone pad it says Smile, please, just try that when you aswer the phone.

franchises are succesful because at the first contact they can work from a position of being TRUSTED. This is obviously due to their recognisable name. i know many independants are technically better cleaners i also know many possibly more are untrained cowboys. so i would tend to use a franchise. that is the simple TRUTH. especially the quality sought after contracts both domestic and commercial. i feel it is true that anyone who does a bodge, inefficient job brings down confidence in all indies. most franchises invest in equipment and training and therefore can usually do the job to an acceptable even good standard EVERY time.

If you put out 100 leaflets, got 100 replies, and booked 100 jobs, you would not be asking, or do you want to know how to smile?

Barry,

I found your opening paragraph interesting.

If you are saying the only Secret is a Smile

I do not agree with you.

Yes a Smile and talking to Customer is important.

Many of us fail because we do not have someone aswerin the phone.

We do not because we do not generate enough calls  to justify cost £250 a week.

So what is the Secret of call generation I will do the rest.

Ian.
A smile  for the members of one Frachies is only part of the regimentation of turning inquirerys into jobs, if you do not beleive me let your fingers do the walking and phone 50 of the CCs who are spending thousands more than you are on advertising, record their introduction, proceedures, and prices, the lessons are there.
