DB,How about getting SL2s for your highest work; keep them for 'best' and use DIY fishing poles for your routine lower level stuff.I don't look after my kit the best, but these DIY poles give me no problems and I've been using them about five months now.

I won't be giving the guys modular for low level work. By far my biggest ongoing expenditure is on replacement poles despite every effort to reduce it it's mainly down to lack of care. I understand it from the guy's point of view. They work hard and fast and faffing about isn't their style. For longevity I've found the Brodex 18 footer ali ones to be very good. It would be an ideal world to hand out ultra light poles for every job we do but I know for a fact that I would be replacing far too often with DIY fishing poles. I would need to employ someone just to keep up with making and repairing them. Thanks for the input though it's appreciated.Out of interest what is the highest you can go with an SL2? If less than 50ft as standard can sections be added to make it longer? Anyone know?ThanksDan
