Peter, I would imagine there are cleaners on here dreading even if it is quietly that on this his first job he is likely to fail or fall. Just havent mentioned it for fear of stating the obvious. The question posed by bluebob suggests that maybe he shouldnt be doing the job in the first place.
Pauls response was ok and I feel mine was too.
But how far do you want me or anyone else to go?
To suggest misting a dry solvent to clean a coffee stain on silk is nie on pretty useless as coffee isnt usually if ever considered a solvent soluble stain. Where as it could be considered a water soluble stain.
Peter, you have suggested that slight moisture ( I pressume you mean water) can still ruin silk pile
If that is the case then I have to add how is it possible that I as do others totally submerse or totally saturate silk rugs.
I posted before some pictures of silk rugs having been totally immersed/saturated and if needs be will do so again.
Please note though I have never mentioned that any type of hwe is the correct way to clean silk or any type of fabric, Oriental rugs.
Does it work, yes and with some good results I am sure. It just isnt the best way to clean them.
Anyway, my advice to bluebob would be to get someone who knows what they are doing to take it on. But then I dont know bluebob and maybe he does. Just his question suggests that he doesnt.
Again though, I wouldnt suggest using any dry or wet solvent to do this type of clean as simply it wont work. There are occasions of course when it might but by the "book" it wont.
Best, Dave.
