Firstly I don't live in Ireland. I am a full resident of England.

I have looked further into these charges on ASHbY's website.

They do say free deliverey over £100+Vat. If fact its quite well advertsised.

The credit card charge is not so ovious, its there when you download a PDF file of there catolague

My beef, as you say is this, I spend £500, I pay upfront, no discount, at no-time when I place the order I am made aware of these  extras. If I quote on a carpet clean then decide to add extras say for diesal and the privalge of paying by cheque, the client will probably tell me to get stuffed as for a return clean....no chance.

If they sent out just 10 orders a day, all charged for £12, then it equates to £30,000pa of extra income. Bearing in mind when the cost of deliverey is all in on the cost of the purchase. Nice work if you can get it. Thats my beef.

My experience of Ashbys over many years closely follow that of Keith.

To be fair, I normally visit their premises, so cannot comment on carriage charges. I feel that passing on credit card charges to those who use this method of payment to be entirely reasonable, indeed preferable to the overall cost being borne by all customers.

Their prices are not the lowest but I prefer to do business with trusted friends, and this is how I would describe the family.

One mans view.

Catman,

Listen I'm totally behind you on this as I stated, I'd be pretty ped if I were charged those figures, I was simply offering my opinion to both sides of the story.

Hello Keith

I'm sure that there are JW cc's out there. I wasn't having a pop at them as people, just observing that my Christian fish seems to have stopped them knocking on my front door! :)

Hi Nicky,

Thanks for clarifying.   I would be qite happy to knock on your door fish or not.  Maybe that's because of my experience on trawlers 40 years ago.  Roll with the waves and watch out for those that bite.

Regards and best wishes,

Keith

I understand your frustration I’m the first to have ago, but only after I had spoken to whom ever first and did not get anywhere, did you?

By the way I hate any one taking my money, where’s the megaphone.

Bit lost on the JW cc side but I do love the way people say Christian fish three cars cut me up today, back window the fish sign, very Christian more like the finger :( but the same applies to a national flag if you get my drift. ;D

I have experienced Ashbys carriage free offer on over £ 100 orders. I think that it only applies to chemicals and not to parts. I have had discussions with Cathy on this several times, when ordering. It is never volunteered, and has to be argued for. However my feeling is if its advertised (and it is on all their brochures) then they should send it carriage free. If not shop else where.

Len,

You place your order, then state how you wish to pay, give your creditcard details and presto 5% discount is yours.

If you elect to pay by cheque or use their 30 days credit facility, you will pay the full amount.

Ask Nick at Solutions, he has the most common sense way on credit card sales, remember that you are paying up front before you get the goods and not on 30 days terms that's got to be worth a discount!
