Haggling with yourself
« on: October 20, 2016, 09:08:32 am »
I find myself doing this quite often.

Go to quote a job when the customer is there and end up blurting out a price which is cheaper than the cost i've just totalled up in my head.

Did one yesterday, added up to £250, thought there's no way they'll pay that, so out came £225.

I wish they weren't in when quoting half the time.

Lol  ;D   what a relieve, its not just me who does that periodically. The real problem with this though, is i often find they snap your hand off and you realise you could have gone a whole lot higher in price instead  :-\

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, I served a five year apprenticeship to become a first class one in a million shiner and my customers know it, they are more than happy to pay whatever I ask just because its a privilege to have their windows cleaned by me, most would be
overjoyed just to get onto my waiting list.
I do get the odd niggle of guilt when some have to get into debt just to afford me but it soon passes.

Personally I would not get out of bed for less than £250 /hour. Needs to be more if it is a conny roof.

Haha the dreaded nerves scenario. It's crazy, you can go from being the calmest quoter to a rambling mess. I put it down to how much new work you/I need that week? I'm not one of those "I earn £400 a day mate" guys - il happily admit I could do with a few more!

If you struggle next time I suggest a Xanax or Valium before quotes  ;D

Got a gutter clear to do shortly and it's not like me to give an estimate over the phone but I'm betting I've stiched myself up big time as was listing to the little chap sat on my shoulder instead of me.  ;D
