Re: Booster pump, do I need one?

The blue hose in pic 2, thats were the pump (1st) and pressue gauge (2nd) go
Take that hose out and use some of your spare hose to join them up

The red hose with the tap in pic 2 is your waste

Pic 3 pure- goes to D.I

Pic 4 normal water inlet(from mains tap)

My advice, set it back up as pic 1 (mines set up different but we'll not go there lol) and then add your pump etc...

Hi. thanks for your reply - I'm starting to get it (at last).

Some problems though :

I was told on a another window cleaning forum that the pump should be before the blue filters and to check with the manufacturer?

The info I had supplied with the pump from Pure Freedom doesn't make any sense to me as I don't have that RO.

I will post up what the info sheet says though :

"Locate the small white pipe which connects the outlet on the left most vertical pre-filter housing to the inlet on the first horizontal membrane housing and remove it.

Insert one length of the pipe supplied into the vertical filter outlet and connect this into the inlet of the pump.  The flow direction is marked by arrows on the pump.

Insert the remaining piece of pipe into the outlet from the pump and connect to the inlet into the horizontal filter housing.

This will boost the pressure into the membrane housings and will ensure peak performance from your unit"

Second problem is when you mentioned the inline TDS meter "you want the first t piece before the r.o" - I can't put it before the RO because before the RO is normal (garden) hose??

The blue filters are your pre filters, and thecwhite are your actual membranes
So yes the pump wants to go after the blue filters and before the white.
Obviously the location of the pipe in between these are going to be different between different R.O manufacturers , hence me saying the blue hose in pic 2 is the hose you want the pump and pressure guage on

Just noticed your inlet hose will be normal hose do you may have to out the first t piece on the same hose as the booster pump
(One diode tells you your tap tds and one your pure, personally i wouldnt worry about the ingoing tds as much as it shouldnt change alot. Just use a handhemd tds metre every so often)

Thanks I got it setup, leaks everywhere at first - water flooding the garage but sorted out most of those.

Annoying drip down the sediment filter but will take that apart tomorrow and see if it's not aligned properly or something.

Gave it a flush out for an hour earlier (Red pipe is jetting out water, blue is slow trickle) pressure is the same (40) with pump off or on..

The red pipe should have more flow (waste) dont forget to flush it for a while first
The pressure should be higher with pump on (what psi is it?)
Check you have it plumbed in the right way round and in the right place
Maybe post a pic so someone can tell you whats what?
Or have you put the pressure gauge before the pump, a it wont show a difference if you have?
