I will be off the cigs four years this coming may, after being a smoker for 35+ years, i was advised by my
doctor to give up because of a history of heart disease in my family which i'm also on medication for.
I lost my younger brother  to a Heart attack nearly 4 years ago  :o, which i'm still finding hard to believe he's
gone.
Good luck to you all who are having ago at giving up, its not easy, after the first 2 or 3 month's it gets easier,
if you really want to stop you will succeed and you will definitely feel better for it health wise & in the pocket.

Regards

I quit my 25 a day habit 3 years ago  on December 10th with the help of Champix for a month! Although I wish everyone that's trying to give up from today good luck I know most will fail because evidence shows that 80% of people that try giving up on New Years day will fail! Which is why I started on December 10th to give up!

Well done. How did you find it?

I don't think I could class myself as a non/ex smoker just yet but so far it has been easy. For some reason I knew it would be easy. I think it is all about the mind set, I wanted to stop so I have. Weird.

Cheers.

I'd been a smoker for about 17 years, 25 a day and not once did I try to quit. I always said that when I do quit it will be for good (whilst at the back of my mind thinking I would always be a smoker)

I'm a stubborn sod so adopting a really stubborn stance is the only way for me to quit. Being asthmatic aswell the health benefits I have felt have been remarkable. I'm now able to run 5+ miles which I never could have dreamt of as a smoker. Also I used to suffer with migraines, around once a week, always during the night which were horrendous, haven't had one for nearly 12 months now!

Good luck with your quit too, it really is a great decision to make!

OK update time
Lasted 7 days and buckled, had 10 cigs on day 8 and then went onto ecigs which I'm still having now
So 10 cigs in 23 days. I'm completely convinced that the ecigs taste better and shall continue with them for the moment

Sorry to hear that mate.

Get yourself a copy of this:

http://mobile.audible.co.uk/productDetail.htm?asin=B004EWV7IO

on your phone and listen to it while you window clean during the day.  The actual book recommends that you do not try to quit while reading (listening to) it so there is no pressure to give up immediately.  It will change completely the way you think about cigs so that you view them as a something to be despised rather that something you need/can't do without.  It may just be the best tenner you ever spend - or you can get it free if you sign up to their membership offer.

Read the Amazon review for it - it worked for me after 30 years on 25 a day.

Just do it!

Cheers, Tom
