Dave,
After hearing the new one has reliability issues, I won't be selling, as there is nowt wrong with the one I've got, great machine and well worth the money.

Apparently the old one had "reliability issues"

I think the real problem, as with many machines, may be "ham fisted user issues" :)

I've got a sebo duo that I still use quite often, it's at least 8 years old, only ever been used to agitate wet carpets, but they are supposed to break or go wrong after 5 minutes aren't they?!

I've only ever had a few vac motors expire in my portables, they go for years, still got a runner from 2003, but some folks are changing them every few months.

That said I'd still let everyone else buy the "new" flexi-5 and wait for any possible problem reports before forking out :D

I've had a flexi 5 for around 3 years. Good machine, but I have had some problems with the drive belt breaking. I've now modified the bearing suppor brackets and it seems to have done the trick.

Owen,

Can you put detail onto that?

I can try. On my machine there is an idler pulley to the main belt. This pulley has a bearing in the casing and another, much smaller, bearing on the inside of the idler shaft. I found that the inner bearing was supported by a bracket (off the main motor shaft) that would not line up correctly and allowing the idler shaft to move. I had the bracket moodified to line up correctly. A bit wordy and I'm not sure if anyone will get the gist, but I'll see if I can take some pics.
