« on: July 19, 2012, 04:26:30 pm »
as above, wanted to add a couple of sections to my 22ft slx for some extra reach on a couple of jobs, so ordered the sections i was advised to get but for the life of me they will not fit onto the base section it slides on for about 6-8 inches and then just jams have tried ptfe spray etc but it won't budge. Has anyone done this and do you have any tips..

You need to contact alex but i have read on here that you need to rub the base section of the pole down with a real fine paper as all base sections have a coating on.

Hi Paul

The section should just slide on however some of the older poles may be a tight fit. Have you tried undoing the clamp bolt on the new section as this may be what is catching on the section?

hi alex

i have tried putting it on with the bolt completely off but it just wont slide on the slx any more then about 8 inches if i try pushing it on further it becomes very hard to try and pull it back off, the slx  i currently use is less then a year old.

Paul

with something like wet and dry you mean, i have rubbed it a bit with fine sandpaper but i dont want to take the coating off as then i will constantly get black hands when the other sections are not attached.

Yeah wet and dry, have a search on the back posts im sure i read it on this forum last year.

I would double check this is ok with alex first though you don't want to damage your pole mate

This is strange - whilst the handle section is designed as a handle and has an insulated layer it should not be any larger in diameter than standard. Whilst sanding off may work it would not usually be needed.

Ultimately it may be best if I have the pole and extensions back and I can see where the problem lies. Alternatively it may need a replacement handle section. Drop me an email on alex@agardiner.co.uk and we can see how to get this sorted for you.
