How BIG
« on: November 12, 2005, 03:50:31 pm »
With all the Questions about marketing prices etc, how much is the carpet cleaning industry worth.

1. you have the franchises that charge say 70 for a living room

2. then you have the 10.00 per room squad

3. then you have mr average who earns 30 to 40k per year

this is just for an example.

Does anybody make a million plus or 250,000

Do we under sell ourself as a carpet cleaners?
How many people have priced a job and said i could of got more for that.

All the 10.00 per room mob i bet.

I dont expect people to tell how much they earn.

As long as your happy at the end of the day.
Bring on the USA (We Will get beat as per)

The  biggest problem in uk is everyones confusion of what is ther turnover and what is their actual income -remember that  you need to not only buy vans ,truckmounts equipment ,depreciate it and save to replace it -unless you want to be in debt for ever- most people seem ashamed to make money -why? cleaning is very hard work, and actually saves people a tremendous amount in replacement and also helps save the worlds dwindling resources.by prolonging the life of carpetnever mind the health benefits of clean carpets upholstery and bedding.
What about saving for your retirement ,covering your costs drawing a wage and making a profit ,never mind staff /premises-in usa it is a major business and many chem-dry franchises are multi million dollar businesses , it will happen here, hard flooring is fading fast and the customer wants service, results and to save them valuable time doing a task they simply cant /dont want to perform and dont have the time in increasingly hectic lives to do . Why everyone keeps wondering what everyone else is charging I cant think -they may be going broke so why follow them?-the blind following the blind  just about sums up the industry in uk!

Mr McGuire launched the firm 11 years ago when he opened his first Chem-Dry franchise in the city after being left frustrated by the lack of opportunities to start his own business.

Although part of the Chem-Dry worldwide franchise, it is independently owned by McGuire and now operates a total of 11 licences across Edinburgh, Fife, Borders and Central, employing a workforce of 16.

workforce- nmw 38hors p/w
16               5.05     =3070.40 * 52= 159,660.80 p/a

Question how much chendry work is insurance work and how is cc
i beat my local c-dry on price by 20.00 or match it 99% of the times

The majority of Chem Dry people now operate mainly on fire and flood restoration. Unfortunately since Homeserve have taken them over I believe they are about to start creaming this work off to managed employed regional centres. They have recently run adverts in the BDMA magazine for technicians. You can also see this advert at www.bdma.org.uk
If this is the case there are going to be 230 chem dry franchisees fighting for the carpet cleaning business to keep going.
I hope this doesn't happen as I have some good friends who have bought into Chem Dry.
Any Chem Dry people on here have an opinion.
