The clamps are still clamping the pole its where the clamp is fixed to the pole has come unstuck its a little hard to explain!!
I have tried a bit araldite on there now see if that works
Apologies for this having happened. If the pole is less than 6 months old please give the Office a ring (01726 66400) on Monday morning and we can arrange to collect the pole and sort this out in the workshop for you (5 day turn around). Alternatively we can send out some rapid adhesive and isopropyl wipes to you if you would rather fix it quickly yourself.
Araldite will also do the job well, it will need to be prepared and applied correctly - if done so, it will fix it completely. If you want to give this a go with Araldite then please follow the instructions below to ensure correct adhesion:
Split the pole sections (remove lever set, prise open clamp jaws and slide section out carefully past joint stop)
Remove the loose clamp from the section
Scrape off any loose glue and abrade the inside of the clamp surface and the end of the pole removing any loose glue and dust
Clean off dust with Isopropyl, if available, (spectacle cleaning fluid etc.), if not use a dry cloth and rub well.
Apply a layer of glue to both surfaces
Twist together to ensure full coverage
Leave to dry (ensure that each section is propped upright, without resting clamp against anything and ensure clamp is set straight on section)
Remove any excess glue from the inside of the clamp - a sharp kitchen knife is ideal for this
To re-insert sections into newly glued clamp, prise open clamp jaws and slide section and joint stop tape carefully past the jaws of the clamp, then assemble with lever set
It is worth taking the extra few minutes to follow the above steps as will give a much better chance of adhesion and also will prevent excess glue getting on any of the carbon sections.
