I suppose a certain amount of trust would be involved really too.  If someone has previously been honest, truthful and reliable then it is more likely that others would wish to be involved.  On the other hand if someone has previously broken their word a number of times and come out with bs, then it's less likely that such involvement would happen.
Trust is VERY important IMO.
