Window Cleaning Forum / Re: Biohazard cleaning

I gip over a waft of dog turn in a back garden  dont think i could do it. When i moved into my house i fitted a new toilet, i never want to touch a waste pipe again especially if its come from someone elses arse.

Did a job a while back in the town center, gutter clearing. There were a few gully’s and other strange areas to clear of pigeon crap. I bought my subby with me, he vacc’d up all the pigeon crap as I was nearly sick with the smell.

He had to lean out a window where there was a small pitched roof, absolutely full of crap and a dead pigeon to top it off. It was absolutely disgusting. 🤢

I was very nearly sick.

The money was good, but I could not have done it myself, absolutely no way. Jimmy my subby was amazing, he just got on with it. I paid him extra for his bravery 😂

It was quite funny because the smell coming out the gutter vac was so unbelievably disgusting, I had to run down to another room and lean out the window to heave 😂

Window Cleaning Forum / Re: It's a Good Idea Put Your RO on a Timer
« Last post by michael mckeary on June 09, 2024, 04:08:13 pm »
I got my system fitted 5 years ago. Ran my RO in the van and went out later and the pure was coming out the lid and down the exhaust hole for the heater. Oliver was saying one in a hundred float valve fails and I had it. He changed it for a new one and it was working fine. My first year was full of teething problems with my hotwater system but wouldn't have had it any other way. I ended up learning fairly quickly about how everything works and how to maintain it myself so I saved money in the long run.

I always time my pure water production. 20 minutes for every 100L to be made. I needed 300L to fill my IBC tank today. So the timer was set for 1 hour. Timer went off but I got way laid and went out to the garage a couple of minutes later to find it was still running and it was overflowing out of the lid. The auto shut off valve had failed! The first time in a long while it had done so. Imagine if I'd left it on over night?

I have a float level on/off switch with a solenoid valve. I also have my r/o on the timer now. My r/o comes on at 5pm and switches off at 6 the next morning. Often the day's water has been replenished by 11pm that evening.

Water pressure and drainage will be your biggest enemy, im just learning as i go along at the minute but ive done one job where the tap flow was terrible and i must have wast an hour waiting for filling...another where the drainage was awfull sloping drive to the garage and no where for it to go. Both things slow you down, I used a gutter vac and a brush to get rid of the water but ive seen people use dirty water pumps and a gutter sucker thing that attaches to your lance.

30lpm is only going to win provided the tap pressure can keep up but you have the extra umph there if you need it so if you can afford a bigger machine why not, it seems like you are hell bent on getting one so just do it.  ;D

General Cleaning Forum / Re: Gutter cleaning advice needed
« Last post by Splash and dash on June 09, 2024, 01:29:10 pm »
Hi there,

I've recently started a gutter vac business with soffit and fascia washing in south Wales.

I was wondering if anyone would have any advice on the most effective ways to get customers, I've built a website and done a load of flyering but have had little to no response.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers
Phil

Go door knocking this is by far the best way to get customers

Go on Gardiners website and buy one. You won't look back.

Cheers mate, I have a few of the above ones and you have just convinced me to give it a try. 😉

I find I work with the weather all the time now. If I know a day will be constant rain then I will visit the bank, order or collect materials for other jobs and visit first cleans. Handy, having indoor painting as a side line because always fit it in when weather is bad. Try and get van in garage also but the weekly weather forecast is good for only a few days now.

Always money in brown nuggets.

I received a call Friday to remove graffiti from an underpass. I told them all I do is paint over it now. The guy at the property company said he sent a young boy out with brick acid and wire brush but made no difference. I replied is he trained, have correct PPE and was it well ventilated? If not, you may receive a letter from a lawyer and you have 14 days to reply. Managers should know all the H&S Regs but it doesn't seem to be the case.
