gonna buy myself a driveway set up.
looking at tech cleans pt250 at £1095 +, seems like a good deal and up for the job.
i know theres a lot of different varying whirlaways, so what should i be looking for to do a top job.
size?
constructiuon type?
castors or skirts?
roll on hard floor course.
ps... would this be better in the general cleaning section?
-
are any of these any good

You also get an adjustable lance, all works well.

cheers dave
how do you get on without the castors compared to having them if youve tried with?
-
Hi
I have the 13hp Honda engined PW great piece of kit.
Personally i prefer the Whirlaway with the skirt , cant remember what size mine is maybe 20" or 24", the bigger the better if you are doing driveways etc.
Dave
-
Havent tried the wheels one, took advice that the skirt is less messy
-
I totally disagree with Dave I had the 24inch and got rid of it, size make no difference to speed at all, if you had a 30inch FSC it would not be twice as quick as a 15inch because you have to move it at half the speed the bigger the size, the slower you have to move across the drive.
I use a 12inch which I got from tech-clean, you can see it on my website video this does the best job.
trust me I can afford to buy any flat surface cleaner I want and I use the 12inch.
I did £580 of pressure washing on Saturday and have £350 booked for next week all will be done with a turbo lance and my 12inch FSC.
if you lived a bit closer you could join me next week( Monday) and see what I mean.

mike
is it worth getting the 12" mosmatic with the vac hole?
right so.............
honda 390 13hp
mosmatic 12"
turbo lance
sorted
now to find the cheapest prices.
-
Yep I use the 12ich with my truckount to do kitchen floors.
it is just the right weight to hover with the power of the P/W it just glides across the drives & paths.
-
do the wheels detach mike?
-
I've just taken mine off they just bolt on.
you'll also need 50-75 ft of H/P hose 50ft of garden hose, a wheely bin with a feed fitted at the bottom a stiff brush, a wide shovel some buckets some window cleaning gear ( the window need washing afterwards) eye & ear protection water proofs. a 10ft scaffold board to lay along the grass or borders to stop the turbo lance ripping it apart.

mike
could i not put the suction pipe from the powerwasher into the truckmount freshwater tank via the big screw off cap and then put the water feed through the normal route to fill up the freshwater tank on the trucky, this way i won't need a wheelie bin thingy.
sorry if that doesn't make any sense but i knew what i meant ;D
-
yes you can but it can be hard to bleed the suction pipe,
but if you are parked on the road and the job is at the back of the house you will need twice as much H/P hose you need the P/W as close to the job as possible, if the tap is on the wall at the back off the house then you can put your bin directly under it to fill it up, with the P/W stood directly next to it.
-
its just that i'm running out of room in the van and a wheelie bin will struggle to fit in, other than getting another van specifically for hard floor which i aim to do if the work comes in. wouldn't say no to one of them big water trailers mike, how much was that monster?
-
Derek thats how I run mine, from the water tank in the van (plugged into custys tap) Mikes right though and you will need long hose runs if working in the back. Maybe one of those mini wheelie bins will do?
-
forgive me for being a bit thick but why does the wheelie bin need a bottom feed?
-
once the wheelie bin is full of water it create a flow of water into the machine so stop air bubbles, so you don't need to bleed it
my bowser cost me about 3 grand in parts all bought off Ebay, I have an engineer mount it all together, it would have been 7 grand to buy from a company
-
I know nothing about this subject so I might look rather silly in a minute ;D but, why do you need a bin? Does the cold feed not fit directly to the pressure washer, turn on the tap and away you go. I can appreciate it if you have no water supply but otherwise why use a bin? Sorry to all you pressure washing guys, i'm sure there is logical reason :)

standard water supply can't supply enough so the bin is like a buffer. i think. :-[
-
I used to clean a lot of poultry units, i used a rig on a 40' trailer, 17500 lts
running 4 x 200' hoses, large 3 cyl perkins engine, twin burners. 2500psi @ 22 lpm
We often struggled for water supply on some farms, most have bore holes, own supply,
but 1 i remember had a supply i could of p*ssed faster, asked the flat cap if there was any
other supply, " i, one comes across yon ploughed field" i asked if i could plumb into it, he replied " i, if i hadnt poughed thru it this morning" :'( ;D

Costs £205 for Members +vat, £265 +vat for Non-members.
Dave
-

any good? . its got the same honda 390, looking at the 110 gallon one, 3rd one down on the 500 range
-
if you are looking at spending that amount of money I would buy the techclean kit, then a bowser, then a trailer to carry it all in. this would give you the option of dismounting the P/W and moving it closer to the job and you would have a trailer to carry other stuff around with.
although towing that to give quotes would look impressive and you could then give a quick demo.
-
ive found another in manchester (waiting for a quote) and got a number for a guy in bristol that makes them so i could buy the techclean one then if i the work was there i could drive down and get it fitted to a trailer /bowser, if ya can understand where i'm coming from.
tis a lot of money but i like convenience. pull up, switch on, get cracking. ;D
cheers for feed back mike, preciate it.
