.......And i will.......also next time, the time after that.....infact, all the time. It annoys me to hell. I have bills to pay as well. Gonna get tough this year as i don't need customers like that. >:(
-
Ive adopted the "one strike and youre out" policy.... When i first started, people used to mess me about all the time , but any of the messers just get dropped now and replaced by a "nice" custie ;D
Its kind of satisfying telling the people that have messed you about in the past.."sorry im too busy"!!
-
easy one to deal with, just use them if you need to make your money up . I put them on my "do if I have time" List. it works both ways If they say not this time after you have already made the journey, they no longer have a place on the must clean list, if im too busy i leave them but always card them to say i was too busy with regular customers but i'll try to fit them in next time.

I have to agree with that im lucky as its only happened to me twice since September. I got really hung up about it. If it happens now i just will drop straight away otherwise when you turn up next month or phone to say you will be round they will probably do the same. If a customer is genuinely skint that month and is honest with you then that's a different matter.
-
Just text an every 2 monther asking her to leave gate open. "Not this time as weather is so bad" she says. She made an excuse 3 months ago to. So by my calculations, that,s 4 times a year. She can go whistle too. My bills don't just come in on sunny months. Bowlarks to 'er.
-
It was a pain in the arse job anyways. I wanna send her a sarcy text but i'm biting my tongue. What reply to you give the awkward swines gang? Or do i just keep her guessing for the next year or more ;)
-
I've had a quite a few lately (well mainly when it was snowy), and they get the one chance.
I've got a few did it again and won't see me again.
But like Tom said, if I'm passing and got nothing to do at the end of the day...I may give them a try...

Squeaks, if these customers are repeat offenders, drop them when you get more work than you can handle. Time wasters are worse than not having a customer at all in my opinion. I have adopted the attitude that as long as I think I am providing the best service I can - which means sticking to our original terms and conditions - that if a customer doesn't like some aspect, such as our agreed frequency, I will drop them if I can't solve the problem with a friendly chat.
I like to keep work (and life) as stress free as possible.
Yeah I know. You're just telling me to do what I'm already doing!
-
so annoying! customers dont see the problems it can cause!
ive started to get harder on customers like that.
when i first started out i would just have to deal with it, now i dump them or charge more next time - so say for example - £10 a month house would be £12 next time as would take longer. Alot didnt like it so then i dumped them. Door step cancellations are a big no no! dumped!
always get worried when i get a new customers and they say i dont know what happend to my last wc!
will not take on any houses that are not done within 3 months - so always try to get them on a monthly or two monthly programme
-
I had a "Leave it this time" (it looked like it may rain) about 4 weeks ago. normally I would dump but it’s a £40 pound job plus the next doors can only be accessed from the rear in this customers garden so that’s another £10 and also I need the key from them to access their sons place which is another £15 job so all in all they cost me £65 last month.
I saw their son in the supermarket and told him I was thinking of dumping as I can’t be doing with the hassle, I turned up yesterday and was greeted with a pot of tea and freshly made jam tarts. ;D
ok ok so I am easily bought, but in my defence it was apricot which is my favourite. ;D

keep her guessing tell her you will be there on such & such a date then dont turn up keep doing that. if she phones you or texts you promise her you will be round first thing in the morning then dont go. ;) swings & roundabouts they take the p*ss you take the p*ss. ;D ;D
-
Sounds like a plan ;) She WILL call me sooner or later. I'll just say that i'd better not do them just yet, as i hear it's gonna rain next month. 8)

With most of my work being really compact, and me usually at least a week late, it makes no difference, I just get on with the house next door.
I would take an entirely different view if I thought they were taking the mick.
-
I had a leave it this time so I thought stuff em. Cleaning next door today and the hubby comes out wanting to know why I stopped cleaning. Told him his wife told me not to clean. "Well we want them cleaned please" Ok I said i'll be round in a mo
"every other time then" ::) Did the fronts then couldn't get throught the garage cos the berk wouldn't answer the front door. Arghhh!
Oh and I cleaned the wrong house yesterday. I'm not going to talk about that.

At least they know you were thinking of dumping, they now know they will be dumped if ur messed around. Ive been in this game over 20 years, all my custies know if i turn up they get cleaned. If they are having work done, ie replacement windows, painting or some building work, thats fine, see you next month. If it's not this time cause it might rain or they are not that bad, which dont happen cause they know i wont be back, they are dumped.
You weren't bought, they are keeping you happy, keep them wanting you as much as you want them
& then you will end up with a proper bunch of custies. ;)
-
some people may just be struggling for cash sometimes it does happen. if people want me to miss out once or twice then so be it. No harm done really. Bigger and better things to get worked up about in life.
-
yeah see where yer coming from but i dont think i have any houses on their own now so i am gonna be working that area anyway
-
So you go out to do x ammount today, 2 say no thanks they aint that bad leave. Ok you say, do ur days work. Get home, x ammount are costs for the day, x ammount is house bills, the 2 that were not cleaned come out ur spending money cause the bills come 1st.
So the bills are paid ut ur spending money is cut, no thanks. Before you jump on me my custies dont say not this time, ive dropped them & some one that dont mind been short at the weekend has them.

I NEVER GO BACK.
i know its up to the customer, bla bla,
but i just dont, because its only a matter of time before you are dropped by them, as its a low priority a window cleaer, so chances are , you will be messed about constantly.
A lady loved that i could get above her conservatory, and always pulled the trad guy for missing windows .......
one day she said its forecast rain tomorrow, leave them please ...so i did... forever!
i know she will have to scrawl the yellow pages for a wfp guy, and will get one...
but i know and she knows she kicked me in the b******s.
i never go back if they say, leave it this time....and i dont even contemplate the business side of it, i will always get a replacement.....in fact the more quality customers i get the more i find it easy to drop them, and the slightly underpriced ones.
move on to positive business..... not negative maybe's.

havent you got other things to worry about in life, :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
lose a £10 house aint the end off the world is it.
just replace and move on.
get a life ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
leave it this time happens occaissionally , but as my whole round is very compact ( can be in the same couple of roads all day , quite often ) , then i just move on to the next one / next door !
however if i was travelling just for 1 , and they didnt want it , then i would drop them .

well said Franky,
there are the usual moaning winging window cleaners who feel the world owes them something, just because a customer says leave it this month it sends them into a right strop so much so they have to come on here and tell everyone what a bad customer did and wanting everyone to feel sorry for them.
its idiots like these who give other w/cs a bad name, how sad is that when someone has to post about a customer who wants to leave it this month
its becoming an industry where all w/cs do on here is MOAN MOAN MOAN always wanting people to feel sorry for them.
I had 1 x £40 and 2 x £30 cleans ask me to leave it this month, no problem I just book 3 other jobs in and get on with my day which as usual was enjoyable cos Ive got better things to do than feel the world owes me something.
maybe it would be best if these so called w/cs got a job in a factory or somewere else if they cant handle customer relations or having their tiny ego's hurt.
-
A spot of rain fell on my nose yesterday,... i went home.
cried all day i did.
;D ;D

>Stephen s.
Whichever way you slice it you lost £100 when those custies decided to break their agreed frequency of window cleaning. Just because you brought stuff forward doesn't negate the fact that you lost £100 for the month. (or next month if you brought work forward from it)
Just because you don't train your custies as well as some on here please don't cast a withering assessment upon those of us that do. It seems to me that if a "not this month" statement from a custy is not an absolute rarity of the "I've found some rocking horse poo!" type then they are history. (After my explaining to them and giving them the option of changing their mind.)
Maybe if you cannot train your customers by way of sensible customer relations then you should get a job in a factory ... ::)
-
Do any of you ladies want your handbags holding ... ;D ;D

Stephen S......It looks like your the loser here......by £100. Maybe it is you who needs to work in a factory or better still have some evening classes in mathamatics.
-
so a custy cancells for that month why let it ruin your day so much so that you have nothing better to do than come on here for a good old moan
I'm passing on my observations and its the same old moaners who moan about the same subjects every time
one thing Ive learned over my 47 years on this strange but beautiful planet is don't turn a molehill into a mountain, and anyone who cant deal with something so simple as a customer wanting to leave out a clean without them coming on here slagging them off leads a very sad and vacant life.
but hey thats not my problem as I go to work happy and come home happy, and whatever challanges appear in between I deal with and then let it go.
you really have to decide to think positivly and you may be able to control your rants.
be happy and have a fantastico weekend

does a custy have the right to say no this time, yes or no.???????
when you are out shopping and cant afford something do you say it buy it next mth. yes or no.
the same applys to both parties you have a right,to say yes or no.
just get on with it and move on.
if you worried about not doing one house cockney rebel and that it affects your spending then you have a problem with your business. :'( :'( :'( :'(
big gin was the ice cream nice :-*

ice cream cruised down the pipes like a rolls royce mate, bought with my £16.30 Euro millions winnings ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

When you agree to have a service on a monthly schedule and break it what happens to your mortgage/phone bill/sofa? You get a letter asking why you've broken the agreement. Do it again and you get credit problems. I know w/c isn't a mortgage but the principle is the same - try telling your gardener you don't need him this month!
If you don't want it monthly then don't agree to it monthly.
If as a sole trader you want to be mesed around then don't hold your customers to your agreement - and then you can come on here having a dig at those who run their business more professionally.
I don't like cleaning in the rain and in anything above a light drizzle or odd shower I don't - but I respect those who have trained their custies that they will work through it and have learnt from their wisdom. I don't mock them for getting wet and looking desperate as I'm sure they work more days than I would with an attendant increase in dosh.
-
YAWN YAWN YAWN the same ols story from the same old people its so 09 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
you agree to a service yes, that it.you can change your mind any time you want, tough that life.
you dont sign anything like a contract do you.so you got no legal rights like when you sign a mortgage..
all iam saying is hey why make a song and dance about it,just move on.next custy.
dont let it ruin your day
-
customer wants to miss no problem, better than them sacking you and if there skint they would be oweing you as well,i dont get many really just one who does it quite a bit,but im never owed and the job still there, aslo i clean another 80 hoses on that road so no problem ,compact work is the only way
-
......aslo i clean another 80 hoses on that road so no problem ,compact work is the only way
How long does it take you to clean 80 hoses & what do you charge? ;D ;D ;D
-
customer wants to miss no problem, better than them sacking you
I disagree. Imagine it takes 20 minutes to drive to a house I charge £50 a clean, every other month, and my next account from there is a 10 minute drive. If I arrive at the £50 house, spend 3 to 5 minutes getting ready and a head pops out of a window and says, 'Not this time, mate', I've then got to pack up and drive another ten minutes to my next job.
That's wasted time; over half-an-hour, fuel and wear and tear, and I've earnt nothing. I'd rather not have customers like that to be honest.
I may not be so ruthless with my smaller compact work, as I am there anyway, depending on the circumstances; but I think I've trained my customers up pretty well, since it must be a few years since I've had a 'not this month, mate'.
I'll probably get one today, now I've said that. ;D
Naaah! You'll get "not today mate it's snowing!" ;D
