I do not care what there perceptions of window cleaning is. It is the judgemental attitude of fools that would judge you without knowing you. That is why GOD waits until you die to judge you." HE needs the facts.” How can man that was created equal be so arrogant . Class system I disagree, the way to the top is not on the bodies or shoulder of others. Love you guys , salt of the earth .I respect you all this forum has always impressed me. People trying to better them selves. MUCH RESPECT !!
-
i dont care what they think, they get there windows done when we can (normally every for weeks, give or take a few days) i've grown too big to be able to continue giving them the personal service they use to get from me when i was on my own. i've learnt to get rid of the problem customers (it comes with time) then i go and collect my money from them in my ferrari, that really p155es them of!!! ;D
I can vouch the bit bout a ferrari is true. you flash git. ;D

I test drived a Lotus and turned up at a snobby customers house to collect payment, this guy always looked down his nose at people, even me,I took the clip- on reg plates off at the entrance of his long drive and drove up,you should have seen his face,it was a picture ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
In the end I wrote him a letter dumping him for late payments ;D ;D
-
;D ;D ;D tidy slash like it a lot 8) 8)
-
The only judgements they make on me which i care about, is that i have done a good job. Their continued payments allow me to think i have passed muster.
I value being trusted as well. But i'm prepared to earn that 1st.

Your wife will never say 'My husband's a window cleaner y'know'. But as others have said it pays the bills and earns me enough to take time off when I want it.
-
i think custys have a mixture of views on window cleaners. I have some which think its great that i have a business thats doing well and others might ask "do you go on the doll when it rains" It doesn`t bother me what they think, Im in business and making more money than some of the people that might look down on me. I love what i do, im happy, im in the fresh air and have a sence of freedom. How many of these snobs can really say they`re happy.
-
I think more customers assume you're a serious business when you arrive in a nice sign written van, operate a wfp and actually conduct yourself like a serious business man.
Little details such as reliability and quality of work count so much.
I know it may sound snobby but by turning up in a battered estate car with dirty cloths you do yourself no favours when it comes to the customers perception of you.
Just my opinon.
-
i really dont care as long as i get paid!im honest, fairly reliable(not to the day though!)do a good job and conduct myself professionally at work.neat and tidy and dont take life too seriously! ;D ;Dalso ive built up trust and good custy relations.simple!its took years to get a good solid reputation though, as some people can be sceptical if theyve had a few cowboy windys in the past!they come good when they see how i operate!
JUST MAKE SURE UR OWN HOUSE IS IN ORDER! ;D ;D
best wishes to u all

I gave up car valeting because it was hard to get regular repeat custom that I could rely on. When car valeting I got much the same perception of peoples thought about you - ie - just a cleaner earning minimum wage.
I worked on high value marques, and something that suprised me was that high earning business owners and just high earners in general where more polite and looked at you differently to "normal " (whatever that means) people.
The high earners tended to respect that you where running a business venture and gave you respect, but it's the wage slaves in their semis that are too short sighted to see that you're a self employed entrepreneur. They think the only way to own a decent wage is to get a 9-5 job, and you couldn't possibly be earning a good wage if your a cleaner.

the majority of people will think that you are a doley just working for beer money, thats there problem, the hourly rate we earn makes it all worth while, i earn on average about 18 - 25 an hour and that isnt rushing just average price jobs, where i live not a lot of people earn more than 7 ph, so when they laugh at you, just laugh at them and think of your bank balance
-
most of these custys that look down on us, are in debt up to their necks, when the credit cruch hit, whos still standing ;D
-
who cares what they think. we all know we have to give window cleaning our all or we would be doomed.we all must have done something wrong in life to be shiners for a living. well thats why im doing it anyway...no qualifications etc its the only job left that pays so i just get on with it.
