Title: Recieved New Rhino 500 & tested
Post by: Pristine Clean on July 24, 2009, 10:48:06 am
Well, I know its only a starter machine.

I know its not top for you guys that have been doing for years and have now managed to either get Ninja, or other top makes etc. But I have tested it today on  and for the money I certainly think its a reasonable machine.

I also think if it had a few adjustments it could be a great machine.

Its certainly seems to have some power both in suction and psi wise.

So whats my opinion so far the bad bits...

1. Water left in tank. Solution tank is not easy to empty. (Drain off tank is fine)

2. have not got a clue how you adjust the PSI. I dont think you can - I have made one small adjustment and that was to put flow adjuster
(Similar to those on TM's) on the pipe so this allows you to either slow or fast amount of spray water.

3. No Presure gauge - so I have no idea what the actual psi is.

So preacticed and cleaned my own settee - fake swade material. I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old and they love jam. Youghart milk and everything else.

Seemed to do a great JOB. Results wise I am more than pleased with it. Suction was great.

Pleased with my purchase.

But if any of you knowledable guys know any tips with this machine on adjusting presure, spray other than the method I have done please let me know.

Just add - the pic below is what I have added to adjust the flow rate of the water or Pressure. Its ok but not great - so ideas appreciated.
Dave

to empty your clean water tank - suck it out with your hose.

Ensuring it is not too hot of course as it can damage the motors, (I know from experience :-[) add a bucket of cold water...... Also, don't just plunge the hose in as this can also kill motors!

If the water is very hot , then water vapour is sucked through the vac' motors.
The safest way to empty is to make up an open ended hose, and pump it out.
If you suck it out, hold the hose near the water so it is sucking mainly air, but pulling
some water up, after emptying run the vac' motors for 5 min's to ensure they are dry.

Got rid of my Rhino about 3 months ago, big annoyance adjusting the pressure especially for upholstery. As Chris said and you've no doubt now found out the brass valve at the front to reduce/increase pressure, just don't loosen too much as its spring loaded with various washers and other bits that will fly off and water will start peeing out, happened to me twice.

I am looking into a presure Gauge, thanks Andrew.

Does anyone know where the best place to fit one would be?

Would it be on the hose connector out just out side of machine?

Thought might be able to have quick connectors on it.. so comes on and off easily. Not sure if possible yet.

£950 + vat

from a&m

www.aandmcs.co.uk (http://www.aandmcs.co.uk)

But I think I got a discount due to other stuff I ordered. Which was quite a bit!!!

I have used it very good, for the money and you could do alot worse and pay more.

You will have to call them as its not on their website

I also found them very helpful.

Hi Dave

How big are the tanks? I would think if you run 300-350 psi ( which is what I run my T/M at ) you would be forever filling up with water?

Hi Justin,

I am not totally sure on the size, but similar to a speedster if not slightly larger.

I know I put 3 buckets in and I still had plenty of room.

As for running at 300 - 350 I dont know! I have never had to "Blast" the dirt out of a clients carpet.

I have rarely gone to 200 - 50 for both residential and domestic carpets, and probably only about 80psi on upholstery.

Lets face it, if you spill a cup of water or half a cup left for so long its at the bottom before you know it. Plus its the operaters technique and the chemicals what clean a carpet.

As for the refilling yes you are correct TMs win hands down for that. But their is a way out and I do not know who else does it. They may do my idea would be this and I have had a machine where I have done it.

I drilled a hole in the solution tank. Fitted a ball valve. Same as on the older toilets, or water tanks.

Hose connector and a hose run from customers supply either tap or outside tap. Water left on continuous, the ball valve stops the flooding as the water rises.

How about that for an idea. Even TM's have to fill up.

These days if you purchase a top quality portable, I dont mean my rhino! Theres not much difference these days between a porty & and TM.

We also find on some commercial jobs TMs are not allowed! Doors open Not allowed. Security is an issue with some commercial jobs. Even on some residential. And if you work more that 250-300 feet your losing presure -  Portys still win in some cases. Plus I know I can work at 100 feet on this porty easily.

What I would do Justin,

As you are use to TM's is I would try a Rhino. Even if tis for backup! Obviously TM's will have something over a Porty. Theres got to be right! It costs alot more! So it cant be just marketing.

Try a few machines and compare them. All I would say is for the money which is not alot compared to say - A scorpion.  A Scorpion is £1500 more than the Rhino. So in fact the Rhino offers alot of machine for the money! Rhino £950. with 25 feet hose and floor tool.

I tried Prochem but the power wasnt there. And alot more money. You could go 2nd hand which I was going to do until I found the Rhino!

What I would say is def get 2 hoses, 25 feet each - that you wont need to lug the machine upstairs. Its heavy!

Where are you based Justin?

Don't buy 2nd hand just done that and the machine wasn't performing so it went back to buyer, £950 for a porty is very very good money.

Just to check what psi is it? and what does it come with?

I also purchased the hand tool by Prochem.

Heres a link of the machines - when I got mine it had MASTERCLEAN on their if that means anything to you Professionals.

http://www.amfcarpetwands.com/index.php?cPath=42

I am also looking for places that sell hoses as I need another 25 feet! But I am looking for the cheapest supplier any ideas chaps.

Hope it helps

Hi Justin,

A bit far away for what I was thinking. I would have said you could take at look at the Rhino I just purchased. So you knew what you were buying,

Are you sure you have a 500psi machine...................the price you're quoting is the 135psi machine price (still good value ) but a 500psi pump on it's own would cost around £500.

%100 even on my quotation from aandm supplies

Phone them and ask, or anyone near can inspect the machine!

Also ordered today inline Presure gauge, 50 feet vac hose and solution hose that then gives me 75 feet.
