I am thinking of putting my prices up, some calls are old and underpriced, so they will jump a few quid,
but mostly i will be putting £1 on each call....
I just wondered how, in this climate, has it had any affect on losing customers , to the guys who have tried it lately.
The ones who are underpriced can take it or leave it... but the rest are my concern,
Thanks.

I can see you getting a lot of replies saying don't do it in this climate.
I would test it on the ones that are really underpriced and go from there, as a lot of people have more money now due to the interest rate cuts.

I agree with Ian, I would stage the increase, but for sure increase any that are undervalued.

But only if you can afford to lose them in the short run, or replace quickly.
But yes, increase if they are underpaid for you.

Thanks...
i do get asked quite regular, " is it the same price , still £9 ? "...etc etc...
got me wondering ! :o
-
:)

If you put them all up by 20% and lost 1 in 5 you will make the same money in less time.
-
only if they where all the same price though!!!!!!!!
1x £1.00 = £1.20
1x £2.00 = £2.40
1x £3.00 = £3.60
1x £4.00 = £4.80
1x £5.00 = £6.00
so if you lost the dearest price increase you would lose out ::)
-
if you double the price , and lost half of your punters... you would be on the same money.....
room to build... ;D
-
there all money people around sandal gazza so put them up by £2 , i dont think you will lose any .
just had a thought you put them up by £2 then i come along and undercut you by £1 ;D
-
Its not in right climate to raise prices. I had two yesterday convert from monthly to 2 monthly. Just be happy that we've got work.
-
There are plenty of people with loads of money around. You just need to know how to present yourself. With any new work I have picked up since October last year I have consistantly put in prices 50% higher than I would have done before, so not only am I able to pick work up I am also getting MUCH better paying customers.
One thing you will realise is that the more someone pays for something the less they complain.
I could tell you where I have learned my most recent skills from but I fear it would cause more arguments on here.
-
Does that mean if I increase my prices by 100% and I lose 100% of my customers then I am 100% better off? ;D ;D ;D
-
YES!!
uh no actually, but if you had 1% of your customers and charged them 100x the average price of your work then you'd have loads of room to expand.
2 x 3-bed semi's @ £1400 each, phew!
-
ewan - if you lose 100% of your customer base then you have NO customers.
0 x £5billion = £0
-
Yes mate, spot on
But each customer is also an expense (even though some on here don’t have expenses because it window cleaning!)
I won’t explain any further, I’m sure you understand.
Yes, plain as day. If you suffer from a severe dose of stupidity
-
right ok
cozy - no need for scarcasm, thats what I'm here for.
-
OK sorry :-[

Yes you would be, if they all needed there price going up 100%, strange but true. ;D
I have done 100% increase in the past the attrition rate was about 10%.
A correctly written letter of explanation kept the customers happy.
There is no reason, even a ressesion, to have low prices. If they are underpriced even if you have only done them once then the price needs correcting.

Fast reply Ewan, The guys are talking about price increases, not" DIY Skills" or any philosophy from Aristotle.
Just let them get on with it and stop trying to confuse the issue with your usual meaningless drivel.
You made your point often enough. You earn 40K a year and all that, but some people on here actually ask questions and need an adult reply.
Putting up prices is important for anyone who needs to do it. We all need to at some time or another.
-
no Ewan not in this thread, but often enough. Let the adults continue without your "valuable input".

Wasn;t he already warned about trolling and causing problems?
Not listened then i see.
-
has this industry (domestic cleans) seen any sign of the credit crunch?
IMO no!

I don't know if he was warned, but give a man enough rope and he will hang himself. Ewan does that every time.
By the way credit crunch, from what I've read on here lately, I would say it's not seemed to have effected any of the guys on here so far.

to be totally honest we've never been busier. I think its probably down to
a - joe public working more overtime
b - joe public not spending as much money down the pub (because he's been scaremainered) and so in effect has more cash to spare and gets his windows cleaned.
c - the commercial sector is desperate to attract custom and so is now spending more money on window cleaning to enhance the image of their shop/outlet.
d - we've all got off our lazy butts and gone out and got more work because of the scaremainering.
then there's also the decrease in mortgage rates meaning home-owners have more money etc etc
