i have been doin leaflets for about 4 months and i would say that response varies but typical average would be between 0.1 % and 0.5 % dont get blown away by thinking you will have the phone ringing off he hook with leaflets somw will prob say dif

We did about 4000 leaflets and had about 3 or 4 jobs from it, I think leaflets are very poor.
Theirs nothing like word of mouth, and we spent about £3,500 with yellow pages and that works fairly well for us.
Cheers

Thanks for the replys

So if those 4 customers you got from the leaflets, get you another 3 jobs each and so on , then surely leaflets are good value for money at 5000 for 80 quid

Leaflets do work, if the leaflet is right and they are posted properly lets say 1000 a week, 200 each morning before you start cleaning. The only way to make sure they all get delivered is to deliver them yourself. Too many guys get them printed take a few out then because the response isnt instant then they throw the towel in, you have to keep leafleting campaigns going to get the proper results.

I get about 2.5 per thousand although to be honest these numbers won't help you much.
You have so many variables, like areas you delievr, who delivers, offers, solus or multiple leaflets per drop that it's a waste of time asking the question.
For instance say someone does high end, delivers via a third party who delivers 3-4 leaflets and get 1 response per thousand. Crap you say.
Another guy hand delivers just his leaflet to his neighborhood, has a nice leaflet on glossy paper and gets 3 jobs per thou. Obvious which is best yeah?
No, cos the first one has figured out his average job price is £300 and the other guy gets £60!

If i was starting out as anewbie i would multi drop them to help build up my client base and just keep at it as the responce wont be instant..

Mike,
The way i look at it would be 1000 leaflets, 1 new customer with poss referralls + repeat work.
Or 3 new customers with more chance of referralls and more repeat work.
Even tho the ticket value is less the long term income will be more.

Yes, see what you are saying. Personally I would prefer the One client refering someone like them than 3 other £60 a time clients, but accept it doesn't always work out that way.

Mike
Are you still doing the drops ???
-
Clinton,
Do you do leaflets mate?

Ryan,
Seems we missed your original questions, i would recommend Mark at d.print in hull.
I recently got 10000 A6 Postcards on 300 gsm card, full colour both sides, inc delivery for £190, works out at £19 per 1000.

Leaflets are a numbers game but there is no one hit that will bring you in loads of calls immediately every time you do it, you need leaflets, internet and yellow pages, newspaper ads to fast track yourself.

Are you still doing the drops ???
I had a break over easter, but back on it tomorrow despite the kids still off.
Got a woman doing the odd thou. as well now + local papers.
Have set aside some time for commercial doorknocking this week. :o
-
Mike
Good then sounds like if you have someone doing them that will help.
Be good to hear how you get on with the doorknocking :)
-
Hi mark
I got about a thou dropped off up to now and got some replys :)
Just thankfull i have got lots of regulars that i have built up over years as i dont like doing the drops myself ::)
Those cards do sound good value and will get more responce compared to a leaflet i guess..
-
Yes it's been a while and I have something new to peddle.
I don't mind distasteful activities so long as they yield copious amounts of cash.
I used to flagellate myself with birch twigs just to harden myself mentally, although effective it was not very profitable.

Mike ;D
-
The funny thing is there's a woman advertisers in the classifieds of our local paper and she find it very profitable. ;D
-
Bet she does theres some of those establishments over here ;D
Even one called cheshire grannies for the man who likes them older :)
-
Mike "Lothario" Osbourne? :o
-
Anyway getting back to Ryan's question
My point is there's no sense beating yourself up over generating response.
Some things work for some and not for others so it's important to experiment.
-
It all comes down to luck i guess :)

Make your mind up ;D
But seriously. Like Mike says if you leaflet areas where you get cheap jobs then statistically you will only get more cheap jobs referred to you. Go for a lower response but a bigger ticket and then if you do your cleaning and business correctly slowly but surely your referrals and job tickets should increase.
-
Good point roger :)
So where do you target then ???
Larger houses and drop 500 flyers or smaller houses and drop 1000 flyers ???
Its a hard choice ::)
-
thanks for all the replys i ve worked in sales so i know its a numbers
game I was looking for general info on your responce rates I am hoping to
get about 5 per thousand enquire targeting mid to high dem so i might have
been setting my sites a bit high but you dont know till you try.
Mark like the postcard idea
cheers Ryan
-
if your prices are cheap and you put them on your leaflet and aim for council estates you'll get higher than 5 per thou, if your dear and put your prices on you'll be lucky if you get 1 per thou.
but if your in sales then you'll know all this.
i get around 7 to 8 per thou, (enquiries) (in good times run up to xmas) and get buggar all per thou in bad times, jan.
will be getting some more out as soon as i get time, all though i hope i don't find the time if ya know what i mean.

Shaun
-
2nd year not started yet, still got 6 weeks to go, first year slightly under estimate due to a very poor jan and my wife being ill, but may just get there, roll on my second year, got a lot more confident and the ltt course has made me money all ready. well glad i did that.
main work line is still google and ad mags.
next up is free spotter bottles to all my past customers, plus 10 arounds each time i drop one off, when passing.

Google adwords?
I still do okay from Yellow pages it makes a profit but I'm not sure if it's worth it anymore, leaflets are a good thing for me as I share the cost with the Dry cleaners (missus's business) and website does okay but couldn't rely on it luckily old customers do look after me.

Derek
