It's landed but not in Cornwall  :(.  It was due to be delivered today to our premises but for some reason, as yet unexplained, the couriers have failed to make the delivery.  We have an email ready to send out to all clients who have reserved one and as soon as we have the SL-X physically in our hands, this email will go out, kick starting the delivery process.  You have mail.

Hi Rob

The brush was due to be delivered to us today.  I phoned the company to get a tracking number to see where they are and they hadn't got back to me by this evening, so I'm hoping they will turn up tomorrow.  Needless to say, I'll be chasing this up in the morning.

Will the brush be on web site as soon as you get them?

Another thing.....will they be ready to go or do we need to order jets etc?

Neither arrived  :(

The pole will be coming to us tomorrow (it is now in the courier system).

The brush has been promised for Friday (judging by the firms previous promises I would not recommend holding your breath though).

We will drop you a line Ian when they are with us.  :)

Give the guy a break, it is not his fault, he will hold spares I am sure of that, most things have teething problems, Alex IMHO likes to be upfront and honest about it (that to me is a priceless quality in a company)

No window washers, I'm not having a go at Alex at all, just expressing the view that if his supplier is unreliable (and this release of the SLX has been delayed several times) then I am undecided about spending my money on this particular item.

This pole sounds just what I am looking for, but the delays in delivery to Alex do not inspire me with confidence that any spares (if necessary) will be readily available.

If I buy another pole I want a long term relationship with it (2/3 years) and it must work very well and be well supported.

I have no doubt Gardiners are to be trusted to do that and I hope that Alex will not be totally at this company's mercy in the future. (Maybe spares and "wearing" items sourced or made elsewhere ... )

I am sure Alex will reply to this and understand what you are saying, I would not stick up for a company that I did not trust, Alex will have spares for these poles in stock when the poles finally arrive, I think the problem was production and getting it right that put it back, courior problems is easy fixed just change them but till you try them you dont know the outcome, I dont see other suppliers being so honest and upfront about things on any forum I go on and I go on a few.

3 companies I do trust is Alex and purefreedom, and wintecs

Post by: Alex Gardiner on April 16, 2008, 05:52:04 pm
It is a good consideration Malc.

We will have in stock a full supply of spares for these poles and future production should not be a problem as we are now booking production in advance. The second batch of the poles will be with us by the end of April. Some of the components for the pole we do have direct control over already.

There are always delays in getting a new product into the supply stream as we have experienced. We first started this project just over a year ago, so it has taken some time. Once a product has been fully machine set-up future supply is usually not such an issue.  :)

You will be able to buy replacement rubber end caps, alloy clamps, carbon sections and alloy top end screws

Is it an entirely carbon fibre pole? So all the sections will be replaceable? :) :)

I thought someone mentioned the clamps will never need replacing as they will last a lifetime?

I travelled from Norfolk to sunny Cornwall to check the SLX out. Two points: 1. It will be worth the wait.  2. It will in my opinion be worth the money as well.  Its surprisingly light, very rigid and strong. Be patient boys. All good things in life are worth waiting for.

Yes and all sections are replaceable.

Realistically, the clamps will never need replacing but you never know when someone might dismantle them and lose some bits.

Morning Darren,

As you may have noticed, I did not start this post and am simply being cooperative in answering queries. I also answer hundreds of emails each week as well (on Wednesday our office email inbox had about 1500 customer emails) and we actually prefer to communicate via email.

Having said that people know that we check the forums on a regular basis, one of the firms computers is left with most of the popular forums on screen so that we can keep abreast of any queries. If a client or a curious person wants to know something then they ask and we try to answer. I have also posted on 3 other topics this morning which have had nothing to do with our firm or products. I even posted some information for another competitors firm. I also have posted on several other forums and answered about 20 emails.

You could always avoid clicking on any links that have my name or products name on (like this post), that way you could avoid boring yourself any further, I personally only ever click on links that look interesting to me, I usually only read 25% of all topics started.

I have thought about starting another forum, but to be honest there are so many out there it is better to stick with and support the good ones that already exist.

Alex iam sure Mike Boxall wouldnt give a jot if you started your own forum the reason this forum is the best by a mile is its for cleaners not for suppliers to constantly plug there own products.

Alex ive noticed you have totally changed your reply from earlier on i thought it was a bit rich coming from you saying the amount of members on this forum is starting to drop and also Mike Boxall wouldnt want to go head to head with you if you started your own forum or words to that effect.Theres an old saying dont bite the hand that feeds you.
Title: Re: Has the SLX landed.
Post by: Alex Gardiner on April 18, 2008, 01:31:03 pm
My earlier reply was to explain my reasoning to you, not necessarily for everyone else to peruse.  Once you'd had a chance to look at it, I removed it - simple.  My reasoning though to do with numbers of forums still stands and I still think it's better to support one or two forums than to set up yet another competing forum.  I personally rank this as the best forum (apologies to the others) for water fed pole window cleaning issues.  Who knows why it's developed this way but it has.  My earlier point still stands as well that if you don't like reading comments directed to me, don't click on links obviously directed to me or the firm, that way you can save yourself a lot of stress.

darren, i dont want to get into any arguements on here

as i rarely post but always read this forum every day,

i honestly think the stick your giving alex here isnt fair.

The actaul information and help he gives others regarding

wfp is 2nd to none and hardly any of the advise he gives out

actaully concern gardiners products, but when he is asked about

something that does concern gardiners do you think hes not gonna

post back a reply ? plus its not only usually one person wanting

information, so by him posting it lets alot of others know whats what.

I just hope any post's like yours doesnt actaully put alex off of posting

on here and helping others out with there wfp problems,

keep up the good work alex  :)

My personal opinion we should cherish people like Alex, Foxman, Foggie, Glyn and co.

At least one of them always has the answer someone is looking for. A lot of knowledge on forums has been gained from suppliers and without them we would be none the wiser on certain issues.

I have seen some suppliers, especialy Ionics, Purefreedom and the like no longer come her through people constantly hounding them, even P hanson no longer comes here, probably through the same reasons.

All sadly missed.

Perhaps the people calling for blood have all the answers when the suppliers/manufacturers have ALL gone. Which they will if the witch hunts continue.

You may well have heard bubble wrap popping, this will be when they were being re-packaged because City Link  'accidentally' got some of the boxes wet which disintergrated the packaging, forcing them to return the consignment to the sender to be re-packed and sent.  They are now back on their way to us and are booked for a pre-noon delivery tomorrow.  One day I'll look back on this and laugh ................  :P

Oh no.  Not City Link.  I worked for them for a while.  I can see a 5 piece carbon pole arriving in 10 pieces.  When I finally walked out of that depot after nearly 18 months of being defecated on from a great height, I left them in no doubt as to what I thought of the job and certain members of the management.  Not exactly my finest hour   :)  .  No wonder I'm self-employed.

I think, and it is only my opinion, that problems arose when Joe bloggs came on asking questions about the best system, and handily a very satisfied user was on hand to assure him of the which the best system was. There were a few anomalies, such as only posting during office hours etc, and a forum member called stevek spotted this and nailed them as plants. It was a very funny classic ciu thread and stevek had them on toast.

Following that I always now wonder if people have an agenda, and have been proven wrong many times. As regards Alex I have always marveled at how he manages to avoid arguments.

So a guy who no one wants to argue with, then one day someone wants to argue. Is this an agenda?

TDW one more, just got home.

If somebody on this forum would ask a question to Alex directly, what kind of imagine would gardiners get if all questions on here would go unanswered? He doesn't make the threads, he answers the questions, which any business would do, plus provides a wealth of information, a lot has got nothing to do with Gardiner pole systems.

what rules are these then? The one's about suppliers promoting their products?
He has a fan club probably because many people have dealt with them and have been happy with the product, service and advice. Whether it has been about their products or someone elses.
Most suppliers have their fan club and alex isn't the only supplier to give good advice and a good service.

Tennet If i'm wrong then i'm wrong. Now where did i stash those razor blades.  :o
i have no interest in alex's reasons for coming on here. It doesn't affect my life. Why does it yours?
Do you think alex is pulling the wool over our eyes? You need to wake up and smell the coffee. You aren't the only one on this forum with more than 1 brain cell. What is there to work out?
Does it matter that much? Can't you sleep knowing someone else apart from you  comes on the forum to gain?
Your posts are a good read tennet, or they make me chuckle anyway and even more knowing you're fretting about other people on here. I don't see your point. Nor do i see why you think alex is a leader.
And who are the muppets? Do you have people in mind or is just it everyone who don't care what other forum members are upto?
Like i say, life is too short to worry about what other people are doing. Especially when you disagree with them.

I agree that there is a load of nonsense written on here when it should have been about this super pole!!

Of course Alex is wanting to sell stuff. However he is also more than willing to answer general questions and there is never a response of "well if you had come to Gardiners" which is what people would do if they were only here to sell!

I read more than I post and I have always marvelled at the way Alex seems to manage his time and answer all the questions that seem to be posted for him. Although I have never met him, I have spoken to him on the phone (once) and he is extremely helful (without agenda). So I think that it is time all this stupidity ended and Alex was left in (relative) peace.

You are the only poster since i joined who has made a point about alex posting on here.

Wrong.

I have too and so have others.  You guys need to wake up and smell the coffee; alex comes on here for one reason and one reason only : TO SELL STUFF.  If you havent worked that out by now then there's just no hope for you.

Cue the backlash by alex fan club muppets because shock horror I have dared to speak out against their leader.

What a whopper you are Tennetclean,Alex is a window cleaner and gives proper advice to other fellow window cleaners, yes he is involved in Gardiner pole systems but he is an actual grafter ie he cleans windows for a living and that`s a far more reason why he is a member of this forum  ;)

in fact hes the most helpful supplier there is, at least he gives his time to help...let me list another supplier that does that...oh hang on i cant

what a stupid comment to make. even if he did come on here just to make money, i think we all owe him loads of money in advice which he gives for FREE

he doesnt boast about his products, he reccomends them and he can supply. i trust alex over most suppliers and probably wouldnt go anywhere else now

yeh nice one tennet clean  ;)

Shall we just close this and start an official SL-X review thread when we get the poles? :)

We have seen people 'hunted' down on this forum before and each and every time we are all left poorer for the experiance.

Whether a person is a w\c, company owner, forum creator, inventor...etc, etc....they/we all bring something to this virtual table and these witch hunts are just bloody sad....

oh dear....this needs a major trim.

no time now but a great many argumentative posts are going to be removed.

Alex provides a great deal of information with regards all aspects of water fed pole, and he is now being attacked.
Personal attacks and flaming ARE NOT ALLOWED on the forum.

For all of you that have defended Alex, my apologies, but your replies will also be removed.

Ian
