winter seemed to drop off a fair bit as it does when it comes to new customers, strangely enough though as from yesterday ppl have been calling and have got 3 new custy's from phone calls plus went out door knocking for about an hour or so and got 3 more! all good priced houses too, one was an ex cust of a wfp'r who apparently broke one or two of the original diamond panes in the leaded windows (very old house) one of those who preferred the trad way of cleaning.... luckily!
My advert is going back into the local business listing booklet that gets delivered round here monthly from feb so hopefully will do well again! last year got a bucketload but had just missed the spring rush, i#m taking no chances this year lol ;)

how many new ones did you get from say last november till now? just out of interest, not being nosey, just wondered. I havent done any leaflet dropping/door knocking at all till then since at least may i think. Recent ones have been word of mouth.

i got about 6 new customers since november, through website, and neighbours wanting.
-
cool, does the website bring in a lot during other parts of the year? I always imagine a website to bring a more slow but steady amount over a year, any amount of new customers is worth it though I suppose.

I have been out canvassing last weekend and picked up a good few but I badly need some new blood because my customers are dropping like flies. A significant percentage of my customers are well past retirement age. They keep dying, going into homes, getting ill or moving to be nearer to their son/daughter etc.
However, in a different thread Lloyd Birchley said he dumped a load of rubbish customers in December. Lloyd and I cover roughly the same area so probably all I am going to do is pick up a load of his old cast offs ( or someone elses cast offs) and have all the same trouble with them that he did.
New customers don't come with a history.

alot of the time of peoples cast-off can be really good customer more so if the window clean just stopped coming, there will always be the royal pain in the back side customers.
I started with loads of old customers and they to kept dropping like flys, I try to get 40/60 age bracket as they will last longer lol

Part of the problem round here is the house prices keep out younger families who can't afford to buy. You have to have a combined income of over £100K a year to buy a basic three bed semi.
Every time a house changes hands I don't get the new customers. There are a number of reasons, a lot of houses are being bought by Asians who tend not to want their windows cleaned, at least not by me.
I have some Asian customers but nowhere near a representative percentage of the local population. They also tend to be difficult customers, young professionals, never in, and the relationship is different in a lot of cases. Saying that, some of my best customers are Asian.
A lot of houses have been bought as "Buy to Lets" and the tenants don't give a toss about the windows. A lot of the tenants don't give a toss about anything to be honest. The shortage of Council houses and close proximity to heathrow means you get a lot of posh houses being rented by council/ social services/ housing associations to house assylum seekers and problem families.
