Title: Motivation
Post by: supernova77 on September 30, 2007, 10:14:22 pm
Last week I had "one of those weeks"... You know the ones where you just cannot motivate yourself to go and clean windows  :-[

I'm feeling a bit better about the coming week... Lots of catching up to do, because I had 2 days off last week (because of lack of motivation)!

How do you guys motivate yourself?

Andy

I'm at my worst if I get a bad phone call. I used to like plyforms posts about this, I could always think to myself there is always someone worse off than me.

What happened to him?

I suppose it depends how you came about what you do now, as i'm guessing the reason you started is the reason to carry on.

I set myself targets regarding earnings,i always push myself to stick to it or go beyong it each and every week-month.I go at it mon-tue-wed and see where i`m at then, how i`ve done on those first few days determine what i`m doing for the remainding 2.You have to set targets otherwise it`s easy to get lazy.

as you might remmber, i was VERY VERY close to packing it in, if i had been wroking for some1 else i would have packed in then, it was only the cold hard thought of the effort ive put into this biz ( and i have put a little in ;)) that made me think on a little

Oh and ive decided on my next holiday, that'll keep me motivated ;)

Im sat at home now after having a week off in corfu 8).

1st day back and it aint stoopped raining.

I get in a foul mood when its like this and it does get you down.

I think that targets must be the best way of motivation but dont set unrealistic targets as this will just make you feel bad for not hitting it.

If you work alone, make an appointment with a customer for your first clean or try and get a daily commercial job to do every morning.

That way you'll get into a routine and you know that if you don't go, you risk losing the job.

I can see I'm going to struggle this week.

I've got about £10 done and it's rained all day.
Had 3 people say "no thanks, it's wet", then I gave up.
I've also lost another 2 houses because of wfp.

Just fed up. :(

I get complaints Squeaks, and people drop me but I blame myself not WFP.

You've got a great business. When you realise this things will get better.

I admire you for trying to clean in the rain, get some more affluent customers.

With new customers that's set out from the start, but 80-90% of my round is 20 years old if you include Ian doing them before me.
They've never been done in the wet, and if I suddenly say that from now on they'll be done in all weathers I know what the answers will be. :-\

not iff you offer a rain guarantee, that if they are not happy you come back free.
How can they moan at that?

Seriously Squeek would you want to work in the *issing rain all day? I don't even though I need the money.

with that attitude was I agree with you, you would lose customers  :P

I'm guessing you don't like getting wet and I dont blame you, I just hate being sat doing nothing when there is no reason you cant work in the rain, customers come round to the idea, if they say leave it, then at least you still earn something and at the end of the day something is defo better than nothing is it not?

I always work in the rain. If it's heavey like today the water proofs go on.

Most were in & i didn't get one complaint, if i got a "no thanks" they would be dumped.
As windowwashers said, "give a rain guarantee" then they cant moan, i do & in 2 years
have not had not this time or a call to go back.  ;D

Well no, generally I don't need the money that bad, but I've got yet another tax bill due last wednesday. ;D
Oh dear, they'll have to wait even longer, I can't afford it this week now. ;D

I don't want to work in the rain anyway.
You shouldn't be that desperate in this job.

It's no panic as far as takings go overall, because I'm a week short on my round anyway.
It just means that I've got something to do on my quiet week. ;)
I'll still do the same over the month.

It just feels a pain at the time.
I don't care about losing the odd day here and there.
I just hate it being a monday!
I like to get a decent monday done, then that's the week half-sorted.

I must be in the minority then. I get up, go sort the van out and cant wait to get out. I had seriously bad motivation when i was on ladders. 3 years of doing that, and a year of wfp. I pick up customers every single day. Got 5 today, everyday i get at least 2 new ones. I work hard monday to thursday and have 3 days with my little one.

I make myself earn at least £100 a day.

Thing that helps me out is where else are you gonna earn £100 a day? and thats at least £100. a shop at £6 a hour is like £40 a day...that is rubbish

You must live in an area with bugger all window cleaners.
