I would like your imput (good or bad) on my design.
I'm not very good at this sort of thing "yeah, I know it shows" ::)
Any imput will be greatfully recieved. ;)
regards Paul
-
Hi mate,
The wording seems ok... But I would change the font to something a bit more easily readable.

hi
the flyer looks good but i would losses the background image because i will cost you double to get them printed off at the printers

I agree with Andy that the font needs changing but the rest of it seems straightforward and to the point.
A couple of minor grammatical things.
1) After area, there should be a full stop rather than a comma.
2) There should be a comma between reliable and friendly and also between free and no obligation (I think).
I do not usually say anything about typos but as it is a leaflet that will be going out to the public, I thought I had better mention them.
-
I like the background image, in my view, makes a better flyer, but yes it may cost more to be printed.
Are you not going to advertise for gutter cleans etc on your leaflet, i;e other services? ;)

Jase, my thoughts exactly about the background image. ;)
Still undecided about offering other services............ the wife might get jelous. :o
-
tell the wife these other services apply to her as well, and she even gets a discount!! ;D
-
Iwould change all the "I" to we.
Looks better. ;)
-
this is the one i put out, they cost me about £200 for 5000 of them but i think they look better then the ones that you print out at home
-
good, but again a clear modern font, and make sure, Window cleaner is the most clear, you know a headline grabber!
-
I avoid putting the words "at a competitive price" on leaflets, from my previous experiences this brings in the calls from those looking for a cheaper service, something I am sure you want to avoid.
A good point, any sugestions for anything to put in it's place. ???

Nobody gets a discount ............ I'm too tight for that. ;D

There is no we ............ it's only me. ;)

There's noting to see.............. can you email it to me please. :)

Agree with this sentiment completely. We daren't put "reassuringly expensive" but wouldn't mind giving the impression either!
"Do you need a window cleaner?" would do well at the top. It is the attention grabbing headline that potential customers see first.
On a good note you have a home/office number on the flyer: this is definitely a good thing since it will give customers a good impression of you. They will feel if you are confident enough to give them your details that you may well be around further down the line.
Also, if you do offer other services (ie guttering, PVC cleaning) do mention them. Many w/c's do not offer this and you could well hook some well paying one off work.
Hop this helps,
Ben
I will try it this way around and see how it looks, cheers Ben :)
Thanks to everyone who took the time to pass comment on my flyer, your imput has been greatfully recieved. Whe I have made all the relevent changes I'll upload a new image for your scrutiny. ;) ;)

Just a thought but what about the method you are going to use
water fed pole /or trad
if trad you could put something like ladders still used
if you are already on the pole
maybe something like latest cleaning methods use ;)

There are a couple of simple rules to follow with leaflet’s/ flyers.
Lots of white space: Don’t make it look cluttered
Simple fonts: Easy to read easy on the eye
The advertising acronym A.I..D.A:
ATTENTION Should command Attention (DO YOU NEED A WINDOW CLEANER) Having your name blasted across the top wont mean a thing unless you are a large company like M&S etc.
INTEREST Words or illustrations that lead to interest in the product (PURE WATER WFP etc)
DESIRE: The desire to use your product or service. Spell out the benefits of your service.Your USP (Unique Selling Point)
ACTION: All the info available for the customer to contact you, name, tel no’s, email, www etc.

it dose not matter if they phone thinking you are cheep if you say competative. all that matters is they phone.you can then sell it to them.better to have people phoneing than none at all

Guys, i am a graphic designer by trade, (am starting a window cleaning business too) and i think you need to keep it simple and also not too proffesional looking!! You may be thinking "whats he talking about" but trust me, domestic customers in their home favour upon family type traditional workers, it instills trust into them. So if you make yourself look like a local family type setup, this will favour better with the customers. Don't forget they get all the glossy imagery leaflets everyday and just bin them thinking they are rubbish.
Just my opinion, from a designers perspective as we do this type of thing for clients.
Oh and if anyone wants any help with leaflet design, drop me an email

I'll stick with my own design and save myself £35. ;D Thanks for the offer though.

I'd owe them a fortune by now ;D

I disagree with MHall, my flyer was produced in Jan of this year, I have so far distributed about 10,000 of the 20,000 produced on the initial run, the annual return on investment so far is way in excess of what I would have expected from a standard A5 flyer.
Everyone that sees it says it looks very professional, therefore we are percieved as a professional company and it opens a lot more doors to the higher end market.
If you go in with a cheap single colour flyer on 80g A5 paper, what does that say about your company?
-
I liked your flyer Lionheart, that picture of a doctors stethescope was very clever. Subliminaly inspiring trust by showing you as a knowledgeable authority figure.
Only joking. They've only just let me back on.
-
Lionheart, if you read my post, you will see i mention that domestic customers appriciate this approach/image. However you are quite correct in saying the higher end of the market - commercial work for example will require proffesional looking literature.
I do design work for some massive brands i.e Coca Cola, Budweiser, Stella Artios, Nestle, Gillette. All of which require the utmost proffesional cutting edge design. But for my flyers i will definatly have two lots, one for the commercial market and one for the domestic market.
Don't get me wrong, the domestic customers who don't throw your leaflet away thinking its just another crappy gas/loans/insurance flyer, will really appriciate the proffesional information/approach. Its just the initail stage of getting the potential customer to read it thats tricky.... Think of it this way.. if a glossy leaflet & a handwritten note came in the post, you would definatly read the hand written note but would most likely throw the leaflet away... this is because its more personal to the customer
Business cards are good as you don't really get these come through the post as junk mail, so these will have a better chance of being read.
Just an insight into the way us marketing guys work in getting people to adknowledge what your talking about.
-
Mhal, please bear in mind that you've just started, Lionheart does this for a living and he's good at it.

if you do work for these big firms then what are you doing window cleaning ???
-
I could hopefully earn more money mate, there are that many people trying to be Graphic Designers that the money is not great, plus i don't fancy staring at a screen all my life. want to be my own boss too. :)
-
Well, here's a bit of an update for you.
I went out this morning an posted about a hunderd flyers in two areas. I had two phone cals within the first two hours, I went out and priced them up,and picked up two more whilst I was there. All these from one area :) nothing from the other :'(.
All in all a good day I say. ;D
-
You will get more conversions if you follow up and follow through.
Knock on the doors you delivered the flyers to within 3 days and ask them one question. Questions usually get answers.
Did you get the information about my cleaning service ?
-
No, what info was that Jeff. ???
-
:-[oops :-[
Now that you've pointed it out I can see it. ::) ::)
