Hi, can anyone help me please.
I was late in updating to the new software, I only did it last week, and since I have, the debt lists care not in round order. I've done a data fix many times but its not worked.
I've also sent 3 emails to support @ George but they haven't got back to me, I feel I cant wait any longer as this is a major issue for us.
Any help would be most welcome.
Thanks

On the debt list screen top right there is the choice job order or date order, tick the one you want.
-
Hi Roy, thanks for replying, I have tried this, but it makes no difference. I have been using George for 6 years and like to think I know my way around it, but I have never encountered this before.
and to get no response from George support is very worrying.

Thanks for replying Andy,
Yes, I'm aware of that, I updated last week, and have had issues since then. Whether I bring a debt list up on screen or, print it off, its all out of round order.
-
Hi Scott, I take it your name is Scott? George doesn't put things in order unless you opt for 'round order.' The problem is that if you've got hundreds of customers and adding new ones daily it really is a ballache to actually get your round in the order you want it. I would pay extra if they would add a drag and drop round order feature whereby you can move jobs into order in diary view.
-
switch to cleaner planner mate.im so glad i did a few years ago.its much better software.
-
Or switch to Aworka.
That's what I did after 10 years of George. Takes some getting used to but I feel either Aworka or Cleaner Planner are the way forward.
Take the leap...

Hi, yes my name is Scott. The job round order is perfect, and its easy to manage, its just the debt list that's given me problems, ie, next door neighbours are showing up on different sheets. Before the update, everything was fine. I don't know why George Support is not replying to any of my emails, I've sent numerous over the last week to various George email addresses but they're not replying to any of them, very worrying, as I cant go collecting until this is fixed.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi, I might just have to do that, although I've got about 900 customers on George and It works very well for me until now.

Yip, I might have to do that. A lot of research needed to pick the right 1 though. I also use Pocket George, is there any other software that can use a pocket type pc? as I give It to staff to use on a daily basis, and just sync at end of day.

you can use CP or aworka on your smartphones.its so easy and effortless to use.also theyll import all your customers and debtlists so you dont have to do it yourself.syncing is easy.
-
Having tried CP and Aworka I would strongly recommend Aworka over CP.
-
Thanks very much to all who have replied., some good advice there.
Just to give you an update, Support @ George has gotten back to me and are currently looking into the issues. however, i'll be looking at either Cleaner planner or Aworka very soon with regard to switching my customer base to.
-
And I gotta say Chris at Aworka has unbelievable patience as I have bombarded him with so many questions/emails over the last couple of months. Sometimes he will even get back to me within minutes.
Glad to see you're sorted...for now.

Any chance of drag and drop in diary view in the future Paul?
-
Hi
There is already drag and drop in the diary view. It only changes the date order, not the Round order - which would be very confusing for users (in my opinion).

I beg to disagree. I spend a lot of time trying to work out an order to do my round when I'm looking at a screen where newer jobs are at the bottom of the list and I want to move them further up on that day.
-
There is a round order button in the settings menu. All new customers are auto put at the bottom to allow you to move them into proximity order.

I know that, but when you've got 450+ jobs it would help if you could drag and drop in diary view rather than sifting through them all in 'round order.'

Hi
It sounds simple but it isn't...
Drag & Drop in diary view already does something - amending the job Due Date. I don't think making it do 2 things would be very helpful.
You can already amend the job order from the Quick Update list - and that causes lots of confusion !!

I disagree, say I want to do a job on a Tuesday instead of a Monday? Great, I can drag it over to Tuesday but it will end up in the order I inputted it on the software. I would like to be able to drag that same job into the order that I want to do it on that day. It's not confusing is it??? Would this be so hard to do? This is the only thing that lets George down IMO.
Like others have said, our rounds are built on shifting sand and constantly changing. Having to put jobs in order in 'round order' is too time consuming and a ball ache especially when you have a lot of jobs on the system.
Like I said, I'd pay more for this service.

To put jobs in order on George, I right click and add to list. Then I drag them into order, or is this not what you are talking about?

Hi
You need to understand what the Round Order actually does. The idea is that you order your round so that if you did every single job in one go it would be the most efficient order. Example:
Order Address
1) 1 High St
2) 2 High St
3) 1 Main Rd
4) 2 Main Rd
If you have the following schedule:
Monday
1 High St
2 High St
Tuesday
1 Main Rd
2 Main Rd
And you decide to drag the Monday 1 High St to last thing on Tuesday it works fine and when you do the Job it will slot back into the right order.
If the system actually changed the round order your list would now be
1) 2 High St
2) 1 Main Rd
3) 2 Main Rd
4) 1 High St
so when the 2 High St jobs were on the same day, they would be in the wrong order !!
I think that would be confusing...

Sorry Paul but I can't make sense of that. That doesn't work right for me.
People want to be able to edit that worklist for that particular day without changing the permanent round order & without using the bulk update. You can do this in Aworka. You can also drag & drop further than the current week in Aworka which I don't think you can do on George. Also on Aworka, when you drag a job to a new date, it doesn't change the due date, it just moves the job to the date you are now planning to clean it on. It is then overdue.
For example if I dragged a job forward by 7 days on Aworka it would tell me on the planner I am 7 days late even though it has now planned the job for a 7 days later.
I find it very hard to explain. You would need to use the software in the real world. It would be especially useful for those of us that are not so rigid in our days. Some of us brake off for rain etc & I always found this a problem with George.
-
Maybe an idea for the next update.
if you have overdue customers from previous days the customer should be auto moved to an overdue column in a different background colour.
I.e. today it Tuesday. On the diary the first day that shows up is Tuesday. Maybe a column in front of Tuesday to show overdue customers and to be auto prioritied in overdue time order bypassing the round order code.

you can already do this in cleaner planner as well as much more.im so glad i switched to CP a few years ago from george.its fantastic.

I'm happy with Aworka but I have total respect for Paul at George as he was one of, if not the pioneer of round software. I still think there is a place for George. Ideally it could just do with some tweaks.
-
Those of you who use aworka can you tell me if it is based on line like cleaner planner or is it only within the confines of your PC like George?
-
Aworka is web based.
Even if you have no signal though if you are out & about the app works fine for most everyday things like marking off jobs or adding new ones. Just sync when you get some signal.

Hi
I'll look at what I can do on the Bulk Update screen. Maybe enable drag and drop when printing a WorkList without updating the underlying Round Order.
