Guys on here with "hot" water systems pumping water out at 25 degrees at the bush head, ha ha ha.
That's the temperature of the local swimming pool! Hot my arse.
By the time it's run down the pane it's probably half that - pointless really when the air temps are 15 like they have been this week.

ive had my heater on at around 40 degrees last few days.it does help with birdmuck, snail trails and all the black grit on frames thats been whipped up with these storms.
ill turn in down on sat though as its forecast a frosty cold day
-
lol Damond, you do come up with some funny stuff sometimes to justify yourself.
Black grit all over the frames from these storms ;D ;D ;D What you had up there 5* hotel hurricane?
-
Hi Daz.
Not trying to be sarcastic.
Thought you tried hot water the other year then decided waste of time and went back to cold?
Your hot water temperature mustn't go so many degrees above air temp or its cracking up time on the glass😅
-
Mine is a webasto the same as the ionic thermopure unit, the water at the brush is between 45-60 degrees. If it's not steaming on the glass you have something wrong with the heater,I'd like a gas heater for signage and roofs cos they produce hotter water. For anyone who says hot water it not worth the bother has not used a decent hot setup IMO,some PVC Windows start to go green even after 2 months where I clean them cold water simply just wouldn't be up to the job on the majority of my work.
-
If its freezing temperature outside (or close to it) I'll take 25 degrees anytime!
Even luke-warm water is heaven to deal with compared to 6 degree water when its so cold. Nicer for your hands, easier hose management etc.

the black grit is from torrential rain splattering in the gutters then splashing onto glass and frames esp on building extensions/porches for example.
some of my 4 weekly customers glass and frames were awful today. ;)
-
Good job you didn't clean during the storm.

ive changed my mind lee since alex brought out microbore hose that can be used with hot water. :)

Fair play, I won't say you go hot and cold :D
Better ti change your mind than not be able to make your mind up like me :-[

Hot and cold....used both, had two sealed units shatter to pieces in the past water was at least 60 degrees, only go as high as 40 degrees when I use it now. Big difference, easier, quicker, preferred choice anyday!
Q. ask yourself when your cleaning the dishes, wine glasses and pots and pans after a sunday roast would you find cold or hot water shifts or loosens the stubborn dirt easiest. If you filled two coffee or tea stained mugs, one with cold water and one with hot, didn't scrub them with a cloth or dish brush but just gave them a swill around after a minute and emptied the water you would discover the mug that had hot water in would have removed most if not all of the drink stain at the bottom better than the one filled with cold water......try it for yourself.

Who cares, the question is how quick are you cleaning at present and how quicker would this investment make me so
unless your cleaning restaurant windows then your not going to get what's on dishes on household windows.
Talk about trying to convince yourself that your not wasting your own money.

That last comment was said by someone who has never used hot water for any real length of time. If I want to use cold I just have to hold down 2 buttons for 2 seconds to turn it off but I never do because hot is king,I would do the minimum to get the job done but with hot water I just have so much more confidence when working.
-
Question, would you eat your dinner off a window. I know its all the rage to be eating off wooden boards and slate but I doubt eating your Sunday roast off the outside of your dinning room window is going to catch on!
I clean my car with cold soapy water and rinse with cold water, I clean my windows with pure water and my dishwasher is supposed to clean the dishes at 40/50/60 degrees.
Hot/warm water saved me a few seconds on windows with snail trails but I couldn't justify using it other than filling the tank with hot to prevent freezing.
-
There are more advantages to using hot other than simply speeding up jobs and preventing everything freezing up but I can't be bothered and don't feel the need to explain myself or convince others to go hot......stay cold, work harder, do a lot of frost protection thingies when the temperature is freezing overnight and earn less, know which I prefer and it ain't simply because of cost. Five quid a day on diesel is nothing for using hot advantages, no comparison.

You have hit the nail on the head, I have the same confidence using cold as you have using hot as I keep saying its confidence
that holds people back in this game not the ability of cold pure water to do the job.

Don't mention lack of confidence or the lassy will be back on talking poope.

It's not a confidence thing at all if you have used both you can make your own mind up if it's worth using hot or not.
If like me you will find out hot defo cleans better than cold any day of the year even if used on regular cleans.

Better at cleaning what ? until you have compared yourself to what other guys are achieving then your just talking rot, I haven't
tried hot because I am achieving the results I need without it.
Its like coming on here and trying to convince somebody who can clean a property in 10mins that if they where using hot
they could clean it in 10mins.
-
I've used hot for three years now and wouldnt want to go back to cold, I don't really give a toss what other people think or prefer , all I can tell u it makes life a lot easier and makes my working day better using hot, it's the same as none wfp people knocking it until they try it themselves
-
hot water is nicer to work with.ive used it all week after using cold water since december last year(l5 broke on boxing day).
using cold water to clean windows is fine but in the colder months its a bit of a pain with harder to manage stiff hoses.ill go back to cold water for most work in the spring and summer months.
if i use hot water for 4 months of the year all day every day it works out at around £50 a month(£2-50-£3-00 a day)in gas so £200.
easier hose management
cleans and rinses easier than cold water(more confidence when splashing and dashing! ;D)
keeps hands warm
no freezing up of microbore on the ground
melts ice on windows when working in freezing conditions
impresses your customers! ;D
-
Dazmond, you are such a plonker! If I could be bothered I'd fish out all your posts where you said the opposite earlier this year.

Nobody is knocking anything, we all make our own choices on how we run our businesses and only an idiot would dismiss something without at least looking into the pro's and con's.
So lets look at it from my business point of view.
Am I happy with the quality of my cleans ? Yes.
Do I think hot will make me quicker and therefore increase my earning potential ? No as I find I get very little on the windows
that would be removed any quicker by the extra cleaning power of hot., maybe the odd stubborn bird poo but your taking
a few minutes over a week.
Will it make my life easier ? O.k. you will get more supple hoses and the odd bit of stubborn bird poo might come off easier
but other than that the answer is no. My clothing keeps me warm.
I don't clean in temperatures that using cold wont allow, that wont change if I convert to hot so there's no benefit there.
So do I need hot ? for me the answer is no and I don't need to have used it to work this out.

I've found hot works much better than just using cold on the following:
tree sap - sticky or solid sap on glass and frames
road film - badly soiled frames, glass etc
algae / lichen - on frames, sills, cladding, signage, conny roofs etc.
oxidation - on frames, cladding etc
baked on bird strikes, bug poo etc - be it on glass, frames, cladding, solar panels etc.
builders splatter - softens mortar, paint etc so makes it easier to remove.
sea salt - common on coastal jobs (I don’t live by the coast but has been said by others)
I could go on about the difference of using hot as opposed to cold but to be honest think I would be wasting my breath as like I mentioned before you have to try it to find out for yourself. Then you can make your own mind up if you want the option to use hot or not instead of keep banging on about it ::)roll

You asked a question seank so I answered it what my views are using hot as opposed to using cold. If you are happy to continue to clean with cold that is down to you as nobody is forcing you to use hot water. However at the same time don’t knock it until you have tried it as only makes you look stupid. ::)roll

Smurf you need to get over this belief that its not possible to comment on a product without having tried it
as it shows a lack in common sense.
I know a ride on lawnmower is better than my push job but I don't need to have used one to realise that I don't need it
to cut a 10ft square lawn.

Not disputing the benefits but the cost.
Cost of installing heater - 3K
Cost of servicing and repairing heater.
Cost of replacing batteries.
Additional potential problems due to using hot (due to hose expansion and risk of cracking glass).
I had a 5kw webasto fitted by Pure Freedom and found it a big waste of time and money, largely due to fact the water did not get hot enough to make much difference cleaning wise (even for single operator you need the 9kw IMO) and it ate batteries.

There are lots of comments and questions about it being faster to clean with hot - - and on maintenance cleans its true, it might actually be no quicker than cold,... BUT when you get snail trails & bird much (At least 3-4 times every day for most ppl I'd imagine ) you save a couple of minutes each time - and personally I found I saved the most time when reeling in the hose as it snagged a lot less when it was warm & supple,.. so overall it should make EVERY round faster, at least to the point where it pays for itself - AND give better/more consistent results & more pleasant working conditions too.
When I was cleaning windows I used a cheapo gas heater (about £80 off ebay) and went through an 11kg bottle of gas a month - - and I used it all year round!

So happens I've tried old fashioned manual blade push mowers too but like fook would I use one if I was cutting grass for a living. I would simply invest in the right tools for each job in hand that would make my job easier and more productive ....
Now that’s what I call common sense if you ask me.
