Title: slight spotting issue, help ??
Post by: tom20001 on May 07, 2014, 07:13:56 pm
doing a commercial 2/3 day job at the mo,glass panels are six foot wide by 20 foot high......

bout 50 glass panels , at the side junction between each glass panel there is a border. bout 10mm maybe which is made up of silicone a rubber seal i make it. Prob is im getting slight spotting along the side junction between each panel....

my process of cleaning has been to cleab each 20 x 6 panel one at time ie. scrub, rince on glass , rince off

no spotting anywhere else just in these places

opinions lads

cheers and thanks in advance

no pics but its the same as many commercial jobs and im sure some of u guys have solution :)

im thinking i just need  rince 5/6 panels together at one time , then no splashbacks when i move onto next panel??!

If it's the kind of glass I'm thinking of its a bit of a pain.

Usually after the 2nd clean it gets better. The silicone holds onto dirt and slowly lets it go.

You can speed it up my butting a very weak virosol mix onto the brush head and scrubbing all the seals, give them a good rinse, then go back and clean as normal.

Is it the kind of spotting you can get away with until next clean or do you have to get it spot on this time?

i dunno jonny in places its bad enuf mate

perhaps i can tell them that il need a virisol mix next time and do it again.....most of the panels are ok but in places its spotted too much to leave

do you think if i redo them in the morning it will improve them much?

hi mate

we have a very similar situation, we have an unger flat mop head on a Harris pole and we usually rub the water marks off with it once they've dehydrated onto the glass

It's one of them ones that you have to just try it and see.

Is this a first I clean that you've done? Pretty dirty windows?

If it is, then after the second clean I reckon you will have cracked it.

Could be a one off.
Splash and dash bud.
If they call you back-worry then.
It's never gonna be pukka if it's first clean in a while.

What I can't understand is that you don't know if its a regular job or not, surely when pricing that would effect your quotation as it would work out cheaper if was regular ?

Wouldn't worry about spotting to much on commercial they are not as fussed as if it was residential to be honest. ✔

Every job is a regular before you do initial clean especially with commercial from my experience. They seem to think il price initial clean cheaper if i think job is going to become regular! I dont

I price job on its merits and tell them regular clean will be 20 % or so cheaper if they wish to go down regular clean route, works fine for me

OK this is what I do when I get windows that spot  ::)roll

First clean the window like you would normally ...

then move on to the next give it a bout 20 minutes buy this time all the contamination that's in the water should of come out by now...

Then go back to the window This time try not to touch the top part of the window when you scrub and when you rinse ( I like to leave about a 2 inch gap )

This works well for me and I do this on first cleans as well  ;)

No Tom if I go price a job ill always ask if they want it done regular or as a one off. There's no way I'm gonna put a price in if I think it's regular and spend ages cleaning it up for them afterwards to say yea just a one off ill call ya when it gets really dirty again !!!!! Yea right !!!! I'd charge a fair bit more if it was a one on and an sure most on here would do the same m8. Always ask before you clean !!!! 👍

Tom as your just starting out yes can understand you trying to build up your work, but as you get busier you can be more chosey and tell them if its a one if they say well blah blah blah then you just put abit more on. But good luck Tom and its not easy picking up commercial work 👍👍👍
