Hi All :)
I have a handfull of bad payers that I have to persistently chase up and I have now decided to.dump but do you let them know by phone call or text to let them know or just not turn up again?
-
I used to just stop going thinking along lines of screw em if they cant be bothered to pay me etc. now tell them were putting all customers on standing order ........... will be going go cardless soon though
-
depends.
if its a stand alone job sometimes i just dont go back and strike them off and move on.if they phone up months later i just explain the reason why im not coming around anymore.
others that are right near other work a quick matter of fact explanation usually suffices.
sometimes with late payers its because their so busy or work abroad so i try and get them to pay online 6 months in advance.quite a few of my customers do this now that id be forever chasing up previously.
others are struggling financially so get suspended until things pick up for them.others just dont wanna pay so get dropped for good.

Similar to above.
'We're moving everyone to gocardless, if you can't do gocardless, we'll have to part company'
-
So what happens if half your customers cant do gocardless are you gonna dump them all
-
They're talking about the BAD payers.

I send them this email:
Dear Customer Name,
So that we can continue to offer our window cleaning services to you can you please setup on our secure "Auto Pay" payment system.
Link >> www.iconicwindowcleaning.co.uk/autopay
The form takes less than 2 minutes to complete…. Future window cleaning payments will then be collected automatically and securely from your nominated account AFTER each window clean.
We will only be able to continue providing a service once you are setup as our customer database is now linked with the payment system.
Many Thanks,
Andy

I dumped a bad payer back in October. She owes me 90 euros (approx £75). She was the one I spoke about on here who kept pleading with me to clean, with promises of payment which never materialised. I dumped her when I asked her for payment before starting, upon which she got abusive
Guess what? Today she saw me parked up and actually asked me if I would clean hers tomorrow! I reminded her how much shes owes, and being the old softy that I am agreed to clean, but only when she has paid me in full, including the price of tomorrow's clean (£25).
So I will roll up tomorrow afternoon, and when the 115 euros are in my hand, I will get the ladders off and oblige. If, as I suspect, the money is not immediately forthcoming, I will drive off again, probably with expletives in my ear! I will reveal the outcome tomorrow!

Update: I called on her at the agreed time. She was out. Windows not cleaned, note left in door stating time I called. Off the list again!

The trick is to charge a "£5 collection charge"
it works
you do need to tell them before that the "next time I come back and I DONT get my money I will be charging a COLLECTION charge" since it cost me time and money to keep coming back.
I did that with 4 of my bad payers. 3 have paid up and the 4th one I have not got back to yet.
I did have to add the charge with all of them, so be prepared to add the charge.
its a simple human logic - people are happy NOT to pay for something but are NOT happy to pay for nothing....

Why bother giving them any explanation ? they don't communicate with you or pay promptly. If they are a drain on your business and work time and you no longer wish to clean them then don't. I am sure they will realise why you have stopped calling and probably couldn't care less any way.
