Im considering the Pro's and Con's of displaying my prices in a standardised format both on my website and on my leaflets .
Im keen to find out who does it? Who doesn't. and why.?
Does it work for you ? Does it work against you?
Does your competition take advantage and use it to undercut?

I've never displayed prices on anything. Each job is priced when I've seen it. I sell my service eye to eye, not on what someone with no idea of pricing decides is a "good" price.
So I never have a problem really. The custy has to take it or leave it.
Some will, some won't, so what, next.

How can you price a house youve not seen.
-
I tried it and it didn't work any better than my normal leaflet. I like to price a house by seeing it first. Too many variables to rely on a fixed price.

88% saying they done show their prices online or in print.. Keen to hear from people who do display their pricing structure.
-
Online and leaflets :)
-
Clients can get a quote and book online and via call centre, it's a simple window, pane or roof panel calculation, interesting thing is I find I get better rates which just shows how bad I am!
-
I thought about doing this Jim but thought better of it.
Think it can lead to arguments with the custie they expect one price (a cheap one!) and you give another.
You could maybe give a guide say 3 bed semi starts from x amount.
When people ask me on the phone i say it will be between this and that price but i will need to take a look as i don't want to over quote the job.
This is where door knocking wins "do you need a windie"
"yes how much?"
your there you take a look and give them the price straight away.
I've seen guys on here with price calculators on their website which you enter the amount of windows and it calculates a price but it's all a bit risky.
I know what your trying to do as people want to know 3 things.
1) how much?
2) how often?
3) how do i pay you know when to open my gate.
Or is that 4 ;D

I put typical prices on my leaflets, BUT I DO DESIGN AND DISTRIBUTE MY LEAFLETS IN A DIFFERENT WAY TO EVERYONE ELSE ON HERE.
Leaflets work extremely well for me.

You just get more work and no quotes so it always feels like your winning ;D

it probably does stop time wasters ringing up
If someone sees a price and still makes an enquiry then your half way there ;)
-
a good idea might be to go public with prices higher than what you normally charge
step up a notch in life
-
30% dip laying and so far no one posting that it worked against them in any great way..
-
What are you waiting for then? Do it.
-
I have mine on the website as a guide price.
Did it really because I'm full and it does stop the messers.
Enquiries are lower but if you don't park on the lawn or run over the cat, the business is mine.
If your building your round then don't. People buy people and you need to be seen.

i told her to look again it says from £5 , she played dumb.
never done them again, but still do 8 houses around her. still waiting for my £1.50p LOL.
you must explain FROM on your prices. i make sure i let them know the full price now before clean.

Had the 1 pound a window on his van sign writing and saw him last week still 1 pound a window how does he move on from that. I work in the same areas. I now get between 2,50 /3.00 a window.I have never lost any work to him, it makes you think Every time we have chat, I tell he is a mug as I have taken some of his customers over the years.

Cant see any benefit in displaying prices on leaflets or websites.
I don just price by the amount of windows but by the size of each window as well
a 4ft square window will cost more to clean than a 2ft.
What I do have is a leaflet for fascias and gutters with a space for the price at the bottom.
When out cleaning if I happen to see a property that needs one of these services I can put the
price on the leaflet and put it through the letter box.

You are gearing your business to price sensitive customers. Attract your customers to your value and good work. They are better customers. By telling you customer how much they will pay then trying to negotiate yourself out of the value / quality and regularity hole is a stick that will come back to beat you later.
Customers who are price sensitive are not the customers, I would want.
