See he's got a watch on, don't ask him, "have you got the time on you cock"

What may be a good idea is to announce a date so everyone can put it in their diary then venue could follow at a later date.

I would not attend on principle because TACCA is not set up or run properly.

It has no elected Committee amongst member's, therefore, it is not a democratic organisation.

Once this changes I would consider joining.

You may have a point there, or should I say, you would have a point were it not for the fact that TACCA was setup by one man in his own time and expense, earning the huge respect of all but the most critical.

Andrew
Then don't attend my friend. Derek Paul and all the others give fantastic advice free of charge and no questions are too stupid to ask. Everyone swaps ideas tips and techniques and if you come away with one good idea then it's a cheap day out for a bit of effort. .. and now it's open to non members so what have you to lose? Lighten up mate!!

Wow, who rattled your cage?
You've clearly looked into this to come up with your own conclusions.
How do you know there aren't plans to create an elected committee? or that there isn't already some form of committee already in place?
These TACCA days have already been confirmed by those who have attended to be the most imformative of any similar thing either running or previously run by other organisations.
I think you'll find the majority approve, and that's your democracy problem solved ;D

What one guy has pulled off at his own expense, in his own time for the benefit of so many other cleaners deserves supporting in my opinion.  Last years event was brilliant, and this years looks like it wil be even better.

This hotel is walking distance from venue and has only 20 rooms, about a third booked now so be quick  :D

TACCA day accomodation
the closest hotel is the Hartford hall. I've managed to get a 20% discount so if you ring up to book then quote TACCA123 and you'll get the discount, i know mossy, billy and ashley have booked this hotel all ready this hotel is within walking distance to the venue. there are also quite a few premier inns and travel lodges with a few miles of the venue (not sure if they do breakfast) and there is a happy guest hotel in lower whitley on the A49 that has good value for money with breakfast included. this one is around 3 miles from the venue. hope this helps.

Can i make a suggestion for something.

have a professional photographer in attendance who can sell his time by the half hour,

what most carpet cleaners want (but have difficulty obtaining) is professional photos for leaflets and websites, the problem is usually the cost of hiring a pro for a photo shoot, you can hire a pro photographer for £400 a day that is 16  people paying £25.

you can  do headshots, a holding wand shot, a holding  handtool shot ..etc,,,etc..etc

why do you think I'm on half the websites & leaflets in the UK....... no one has any professional photos of themselves

it will cost TACCA nothing and will be something  usefull

Apparently you have to tell them you're with TACCA or they'll say they're full.

If someone doesn't want to take advantage of what TACCA offers free of charge and any effort of their part because the guys running it are not elected then let them it's their loss, perhaps if TACCA is prepared to do a head to head demo between powerburst and white spirit mixed in water as a pre spray he may attend, but i doubt it after 27 years cleaning carpets surely there's nothing left to learn.

Anyone travelling up from Essex or the South East ?

1 room left at the Hartford hall hotel

I've just been to our local pub and they have a single room, double room and a family room available, this pub is 200 yards from the venue. they've said they will do £5 off the room rate for us which was nice, just quote TACCA again. its the red lion in Hartford. Thats it, the rest are premier Inns and travellodges, oh and the happy guest lodge.

theres all ready a few booked at the premier inn in leftwich/davenham (about 2.4 miles from the venue) i think there doing an offer, heres what john said.........it was double room and for the 2 nights £76 + £22.99 for meal deal breakfast and evening meal so all in £121.98 which I thought was pretty good.

Neil, what is it that you want to see on the day? the trainers will be repeating throughout the day so if its only say 2 things you want to see then it might be worth while. depending on how long you can stay.

reg is at 9am then all the trainers should be underway by about 10am. all in seperate parts of the building.

dinner about 12.30 then commence training and seminars again about 1.30
hope this helps

Anyone going to the TACCA day and live near Grimston Norfolk?

I've bought a machine on eBay, it's pick up only and rather than drive to Grimston is thier anyone who would pick it up for me.

I will make it worth your while!! I'll give you 2 airmovers, or a lint hog inline filter (either 2 inch or 2.5inch fitting)

Or £50

It's this....

I used to own one of those. Amazing machine. Unfortunately Advance became part of Nilfisk and in true fashion they discontinued it! The SH120T foamer was great for stairs.

That machine will encap or dry foam 100 restaurant chairs in an hour. then vac off and there ready to use. paid for itself in one go.

I remember wanting one of those but they were £3k in 1990 I just could justify buying it at the time and stuck with my Cimex, I saw this on eBay it's been around it a few times but I didn't fancy driving down to Norfolk and bumping into Denis.

It's more suited to Axminster/wiltons than CGD. Great machine.
Nilfisk still make the wide area vac version.

Well I turned it on and it nearly ran me over :o :o

the brush was set  too low so dug into the carpet, the vacuum version of this must be a nice machine on open areas as the pile lifting ability of the brush is very impressive.

Can't work out how it puts down the solution, it looks like it blows air into the  tank to create a foam, filled it with just water and nothing happened, the tank was bubbling but none was being ejected onto the brush.

Might try and find a manual on the web.

The brush is good, even if the main machine is a dud I can adapt the brush as a stand alone tool

Good one Paul, it'll be good to show people these items that aren't 'the norm'

Mike if memory serves me it works on compressed air foaming the shampoo and putting it onto the brushes keeping the moisture really low but there was a handle to adjust the flow.

shaun most of the prizes will be at the event, if not they will be posted out by the supplier and for those not attending, TACCA will post out the prizes or we may get someone who has attended to take the prize to you if they live close. with the winners agreement that is.

Why should that matter to you?

For £55.00 you would get a day of training on subjects that most courses do not teach. You would get tips that they would not tell you, from people who have the experience and are willing to pass it on. You would get fed at lunch and the evening.

Who gives a flying toss if there is any profit from it? If the guys doing the training (informal or not) get some money for giving their time, then I think that is a good thing.

Don't forget there are overheads including hiring the building etc.

Take it for what it is.... An informal training day for less than the cost of a job...

Lighten up...  ;D ;D

What Derek has done over the past few years to get this off the ground has to be admired. Profits from the day (which won't be much) he is very welcome to it..... a very small payback for the amount of investment he has put in to date.
If you can do better than you are more than welcome to try.

Well said paul, I've been saying that for ages, I know how much Derek has put into all of this with no return for himself, I said he should take out what he's put in, but I also know full well that he won't do that, ANY surplus, I know he will reinvest in to tacca to make it bigger and better!

Why are you so bothered, you're not going so your money isn't going where you don't want it to. If everyone who has bought a ticket feels they had great value for money (which i'm sure they will) and isn't bothered where the ticket money goes then why is that your issue?

If there was time to pick up one of these ...  a 63mm with back port should fit right up against a hose barb as it is .
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vacuum-Gauge-S-Steel-case-Glycerine-filled-63mm-1-0-Bar-30-Hg-1-4-BSP-Back-/130886515885?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e7971bcad

alternatively ...  if you had this version with the connection on the bottom .... if it was screwed into a plastic hose connector , and the connector was put inline near the wand after 100ft hose ....  if you then clean a bit of carpet it might tell how the machine is maintaining lift under real cleaning.
