I used twitcher for a bit until the missus told me to stop clowning around with my phone  :o

Did nowt for me except waste my time really ... it's a full time job this computering lark more folk want Windows cleaning than window cleaning if you get my drift  ::)

Probably all those houses where one leaflets where the garden is overgrown and all the curtains are closed are on twitter? Used to be a house like that on every estate when I grew up (council of course  ;D) ... now there's a couple on every street!

Why is that? Houses are so expensive too and they just let them fall to bits like that. Guttering hanging off window frames rotting away japanese knot weed small boys in the park jumpers for goal posts ......

I've been using it properly since the beginning of the year... I've so far gained 4 regular customers from it.

I'm on it now. Mate who runs a media. Implant reckons that linking Twitter to Facebook is massive and great for keeping your 'name' in the public domain, especially for a sole trader.

Anyway, I am @AndyWindowsDeal
feel free to pester me with work.

apparently

if you have twiter , fb linkedin etc etc.. on your website and have them linked back to these social mediums.... and use them and have people you are connected too etc..  then it can help (alledgedly) improve / drive your ranking..

@deantaberner

Very little window cleaning talk going on on there though.

Mainly jibberish.

depends who you follow - follow things you're interested in or people that are doing interesting stuff and you get some interesting stuff to read. Most people on Twitter are desperately trying to get people to follow them, missing out on the whole point of it (IMO) thats where the jiberish comes into it

Twitter can be a useful communication tool when used as part of a broader social media network, I would agree though it can be very time consuming.

Sometimes I am replying to tweets in the early hours of the morning.

Well spotted Ian. He was a smart guy even though he lost it a bit.
Reckon he was the first person to say : ' You're all doomed ! "

I dont have a website or advertise on twitter or facebook dont even sign write my vans never leaflet drop. Have never seen the point. I get a new customer call me each day on average from where i have given my number out whilst canvassing or from recomendations i also canvas 3-4 times a week which brings in a lot of work.
If you guys spent less time building facebook pages and twitter pages begging for likes  etc and spent just half hour a day 7-7.30 localy canvassing id guarantee you will get at least a new customer every night. So 20 customers a month would be a £200 a month payrise at least or £2400 extra a year. Do this each month just half hour a day and by the end of the year you would have doubled your round. I dare you to try it and stop wasting time waiting for the work to come to you... Be a businessman and chase the money and chase the work.

I know life is all about computers now but securing window cleaning customers at a fast rate and flow using twitter and facebook isnt the fastest way. ill bet you what ever you like that you will get more with half hour canvassing a night than spending half hour on a computer a night. Im not arguing as i dnt have a website or twitter. But from what i read not many jobs come through using twitter and facebook??? If im wrong so be it. Im just saying what works for me.
Why compare it to football. Milkman get there customers from canvassing. Energy customers, double glazing, avon, cleeneaze etc etc all from banging the doors.
Everyone is different i dont want to wait for the work to come to me uncompact in dribs and drabs i want to chase the work i want and keep it compact.

I say use it all. What harm can it do to try everything. The Facebook and twitter element is also a fun social way to interact that could easily bring in the dollars.
A web site is good too.
People warm to familiar trending things so thats why we show face book and twitter logos on our leaflets. We also stick a QR code on the leaflet so people can scan and watch a video of us immediately. They see our website too which looks professional.

We follow up leaflets two weeks later with some door knocking. We also get word of mouth etc too.

We get inquiries everyday and I respond immediatly by checking with Google Earth. If I can't quote them that way, I go visit.

Its all in the pot that makes money.
