Hi,
Been using SLX for a while now. Excellent pole. Wondering where it is made? Because carbon fibre is expensive to make!

-
WHY????
-

-
i believe the materials etc come from abroad but are put together and that over hear switzerland maybee , but thats just from memery on here i may be wrong
-

I remember one of Alex's competitors trying to wind him up once ,saying he knew where his poles were made. I think Alex said parts come from several different countries? as in... I doubt very much you do know! ;D
-
I think China, then Alex puts clamps on here
-
You may find that they are made in cornwall. The cornish have convinced themselves that they are a whole different country to England.

No, the brushes are from Switerland; Basle, in fact.
You must have heard of the Basle Brush.
-
Is the Basle Brush Fawlty ... er faulty, Gerry?
...
Anyway everyone knows how SLX's and Extreme's get here.
Lovely Hi-Modulus (Hi-Malc) carbon tubes are being sent to Quebec, Canada from Switzerland via France so that lightweight rafts can be made for all the drowning polar bears.
Then those wicked Cornish Wreckers (posing as humble gardeners with one eye) murder the lighthousekeepers, put up false lights and lure the sailors onto the rocks. Then they wreck the ship, steal the tubes and flog them to Alex and his evil cronies who make them into wfp poles.
BE WARNED! EVERY TIME YOU BUY AN SLX A POLAR BEAR CUB DIES WHEN ITS ICE FLOE MELTS!

Santa has his elves
The rest of the world has the chinese!
I would bet they are made in china.
-
China is the safe bet.
Toray Industries are the world's largest producers of carbon fibre ... with operations in Japan, China, Hong Kong China, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the USA.
So it could be here? Anyone near a Toray Plant? My next guess would be Teesside then. Come on Alex are we getting warm? Mind you're in Cornwall ummm
any road uppards Alex I went to your site and when I clicked to swerve the flash movie and then on to the main site I couldn't get any joy out of the 'Contact Us' link so it doesn't work ... just saying ... saved you £££ there!

I doubt very much Alex is going to tell us on anyone the exact place these poles are made
-
I was going to put that they were hand assembled by Nepalese mountain pygmies, but thought it wasn't politically correct!
Where are the SLX range of poles manufactured? - This is not an easy question to answer as the answer is 'all over the world'.
All of the components are designed in the UK and all of the poles are hand-finished in the UK. Many of the components are also manufactured in the UK.
There are a total of 52 components in a typical SLX25 pole, brush and hose assembly - 28 Components are from the UK, 16 from China, 5 from Japan & 3 from Europe. They are finally assembled in China and the UK.

Brilliant reply ;D ;D ;D
You could make a marketing thing out of that put a country on each section start with Japan at the top ... then the United Kingdom .... then Norway(bear with me) ... then China ... then Korea when it's all closed up and on the roofrack it will say J.U.N.C.K brilliant TopGear would have a field day with that! And Jeremy Clericson is very rich man. Lives next door to the prime minister and everything and he owns an island like Richard Branston I think. He probably owns it cos he drives like a nutter cos he can barely walk because he is feeble and weak but very rich ;D
Put it on UTube when you've done cheers.
Check out your website there's a broken cantact link!
-
The website is in the middle of being updated so hopefully the contact link will be restored soon :(
-
is making them a stinky process? i used to visit a fibreglass factory and it stunk to high heaven. on the afternoons the guys who sprayed the fibreglass were high as a kite (even wearing full protection) from the fumes and they used to sing at the top of their voices !!
-
Used to do the same with contact adhesive at one place I worked by the end of the day you were buzzing!

I thought they were made in the usa because they all seem to use gardiner stuff.
To be honest i thought alex was part of a franchise from the usa.how wrong i must be.

It's just nice to know where it's made. I'm a great fan of things being made in England.

Edward Woodward said that when he lived on the Cornwall side of the Tamar the locals told him that on a good day you could see England.

Not sure about the SLX but my two CLX's seem to occasionally have a dodgy English thing attached!

Edward Woodward said that when he lived on the Cornwall side of the Tamar the locals told him that on a good day you could see England.
Edward woodward lived on the camel estuary.
Thank you - that would explain a lot as I never thought the Tamar was that wide!
Still not sure about seeing England but you might be able to see Wales on a clear day?
